Out of nowhere, a message alert flashed on the tablet. Curious, I tapped it. Oops. It seemed Walter's messenger was still logged in. [Walter, you're the best at picking out treats. It's been ages since I've had pastries this good.] [The place was packed. You really went out of your way.] Walter shot me a quick look, still typing like a man on a mission.

Titles like Rich Mindset and Atomic Habits caught my eye, their well-worn spines suggesting they had been thoroughly read. But one title stood out above the rest, stopping me cold:

Tyson smirked. “31 Days.” Chance affirmed. “Which Day was today”? He asked. “Ninth.” Dr. Tyson added. “Twenty two days to go, man I am gonna savor these.” with a devilish smirk, Chance declared.

I thought it was going to be a normal day. Not my second time of running into the same ex. Now there was surely no escape from this one. I was done for. All I had left to say were my last prayers. They moved to the counter to make their order while I basically had my textbook in my face as disguise. That was so freaking childish. Searching for what table to take, my hands all of a sudden felt slippery causing the textbook to fall off. Shit! His eyes found mine. “Emerald?” He asked, amusingly.

The last fragment of hope inside me vanished. I was finally, completely done.

I guess I know where I'm headed. Standing in front of the first door, I took a deep anxious breath before knocking briskly. “Come in!”, a hard but slightly familiar voice grunted from the other side of the door. I opened the door and walked in with my face turned to the ground. “Good morning sir. My name is Maya Jensen and I'm your new Personal Assistant”. I spoke up in a polite tone. When I didn't get a response from my new boss, I looked up in confusion. The first thing I saw was a mop of brown tousled hair sitting on a familiar face.

A stone table stood in the center. Something rested on it. A book. Luna sighed. Darius looked at her. "Absolutely not." "It's a book." "The last book we opened released thousands of forgotten people and several memory-eating creatures." "That was technically the building." "I'm not interested in technical distinctions."

I closed my eyes tightly due to the sudden speech of the wrong side of my brain. I sighed. "Mommy, my birthday is coming. Are we going to celebrate it here or in France?" Indira asked. It's in my arms while it's reading a book. It's not some kind of a fairytale book though. It's actually a book that tackles about law or something like that. She brought it when they got home from Miya's house. My Indira... She's growing so fast, huh? She doesn't want to watch cartoons anymore.

As he was walking away, the lady then asked him, “If you don’t mind… do you want to sit at the same table then.” “Are you sure? There are-” “No, I- I insist… Since this corner of the café is the best spot to read, I always sit here, I don’t mind sharing it with you.: “Ah sure, that spot was something I had my eye on since earlier.” Kayne replied. “AH, REALLY, let’s share it then!” Both were really awkward at each other at first but when they found out that both were reading the same book, they eventually got a comfortable to talk at each other.
