Moon Touched
I asked, heart beginning to pound harder against my ribs.
“I don’t know… It’s hard to explain. Their wolves are there, I can sense them, but they’re disconnected. Lost. It’s like they’ve been severed from their humans. Confused. Almost afraid.” He hesitated, then added, “All the wolves I tried speaking to, they say something else is controlling their human half.”
A chill slid down my spine like ice water. Something else. That thought took root deep inside me, spreading a cold dread.
Then I noticed something else. Something that made the hairs on the back of my neck rise. “Onyx,” I said slowly, “do you see any children?”
