Still nothing. Onyx growled. “It’s odorless.” A frown crept up on my face. “You sure?” “Positive,” he said with certainty. That wasn’t helping. Onyx could identify hundreds of scents. Poisons. Plants. Blood. Illness. Most things left traces. Whatever had been mixed into these drinks apparently didn’t. “There’s no smell,” Onyx muttered. “Wonderful.” My sarcasm wasn’t appreciated. She crashed into the starlit floor, gasping, smoke curling from her palms. “You are bound to me now,” Fenris said, stepping closer. “Your love made you weak.” She raised her head, silver fire burning in her gaze. “No,” she hissed, rising to her feet. “My love made me unstoppable.” She roared — and her Onyx wolf burst out, colossal and radiant, fangs like obsidian swords, eyes like eclipses. She lunged. The god met her head-on. Storm and shadow collided, shaking the realm to its core.

I felt the familiar, hot purple sheen cover my eyes, and I just let my raw, unfiltered rage consume my entire soul. The bright sky above the estate lost its daytime brightness immediately, turning a dark, menacing shade of grey. A harsh, violent wind whipped around the courtyard, tearing leaves off the trees. I lifted my right hand toward the yard, locking onto Onyx's smug face, and slammed my hand downward. An invisible force gripped Onyx's lanky body, ripping him off his feet. I threw him high into the air and smashed him into the concrete floor. Then I lifted him and did it again. And again. I smashed him into the hard ground repeatedly—five, maybe six times.

She had been really good at it too. When I told Orion, he smiled. “Go right ahead,” he said. “I’m getting tired of staring at numbers. Go for it. I’ll text Selene and tell her to give Stormy the passwords and paperwork.” “Did you hear that?” I asked Stormy. “I sure did. Honestly, this is kind of exciting. I haven’t worked in months.
