Five. Ten. A goddamn storm in a girl. It hits the Hollow line. Wolves don’t scream. They convulse. Fur ignites, then goes out, because Sky doesn’t burn. She breaks. Nervous systems, bones, the space between heartbeats.

I can do this for a lot longer than your packmates can live without water.” Onyx growled, she wanted to rip his face off, maybe that was why he didn’t come in person this time. He must have known that I would want to retaliate after he gave me his message. Just like any alpha would once you took away all of their other options. I didn’t care what he wanted, I wasn’t going to give up easily.

His eyes were shut tightly, and his forehead had beads of sweat. "Fuck, Storm!" I yelled at the link, and suddenly, Storm opened the link.

LINDEN When Alice let go of Westley and turned around there was a heat to the air that suggested Onyx was out instead, and as I circled around his black eyes confirmed it. Onyx wasn’t like Ace or Amara, there was never any verbal communication and he could be unpredictably aggressive. For the most part, Nixon kept him under control but when it came to his possessive streak over me and Alice, we learned to placate him.

The dark circles beneath her eyes seemed a little less harsh in the soft moonlight filtering through the window. Suddenly, I felt Onyx edge closer to the surface of my mind. He wasn't aggressive or arrogant this time. His presence was quiet, hesitant, and strangely nervous. "Marcellous?" Onyx whispered inside my skull. "What?" My beast paused for a long moment, staring out through my eyes at the sleeping girl. *Do you think... when her wolf finally awakens... do you think her wolf will like me?" Onyx asked, his voice rough and uncertain. "Do you think I might scare her too?"
