Maybe it’s a Virtus thing and Randy does the same. Hastily, I closed the door and rushed over to the shelf. Hmm…. All the books look new like they’ve never touched a hand or a finger. They’re neatly stacked and organised in alphabetical or….der? Hmm? ‘Gone with the wind’? ‘G’ doesn’t stand between ‘V’ and ‘X’. I held my breath as I pulled out the book Click. Something close unlocked itself and the shelf shuddered. Is it me or did the shelf just relaxed itself like a spring?

Zachary was still asleep beside me; his profile was so finely sculpted that it was difficult to look away. Nevertheless, I forced myself to rise, wash, and dress. Just as I was about to leave the room, my eyes happened to catch the small box left unopened the day before. A faint, uneasy curiosity rose within me. I wondered what sort of riding crop Zachary had specially commissioned. To my astonishment, when I carefully opened the little box, I found an exquisitely crafted jeweled hairpin lying within, its gemstones sparkling brilliantly. My heart lurched. I had misunderstood Zachary all along. The box never contained the ill-intentioned riding crop I had imagined.

Kyria leans over the desk and picks up the small letter opener, using that to unlock and open the small drawer but making sure not to damage it in the process. Kyria sighs and relaxes just a little when she hears the soft click and can pull the drawer open. She riffles through the papers, folders and slim books until she uncovers Mane Beatrice's little black book. Kyria quickly skims through the pages until she finds the right information.

She bent slightly from where she stood but didn’t force herself to squeeze under the desk with me. “Books,” I muttered, still inspecting them. I crawled out and placed the books on the desk. Standing up, I put my hands on my hips. Beside me, Corrine leaned in to examine the books as well. She reached out as if to touch one, but then hesitated. Instead, she looked at me and asked, “May I—?” I paused before answering, “Yes.” Only then did Corrine pick up one of the books—the largest of the three—and carefully open it. On the very first page, we saw elegant, looping handwriting, as though written with great care.

Another thing is that normal school textbooks can only be opened manually but this book opens by itself immediately after you're done reading a page, and the page you've just read will go blank if it was read by another person except for the owner of the book. I know. And, I looked at my watch to begin counting her time, and she tried to move the shelf by pushing it with her right hand which made me hold my laughter. No, I'm not gonna laugh. Then, she let out a heavy breath as she put a hand on her waist and looking at the huge thing in front of her while puzzled by how to get it open. Is she tired? "Nine minutes! The books won't tell you how to open it, Maia. Use both your hands and mind." I let out as I pick up again the document that I was reading earlier. Let's see if she can figure it out.

There is an invisible wall which is acting like a barrier between us and Darius. Power is vibrating around him like the sun emits sun rays. The books are absorbing his power like that is their food. Slowly each book starts to shimmer. Then each one of them starts to glow from inside. Then the weirdest stuff happens. All the books open up and the spells inside them come to life. They move in the air like a wave. One by one the spells start to leave the library and come straight towards us. We duck and they bypass us and move outside the house.

The weakness in my body did not vanish, but the emptiness inside me shifted, rearranged, like space being made for something old and familiar. I placed my palm flat against the book. And it lit up. Soft at first. Then brighter. Symbols bloomed across the cover like they had been asleep and finally heard their name. The bindings loosened on their own, threads unraveling without being cut, pages fluttering like they were eager. The book opened instantly. Sammy sucked in a sharp breath. Jane swore under her breath, awe naked on her face. Victor went very, very still. And I lay there with my heart pounding, staring at the open pages like they had been waiting for me my entire life.

She notices a little book under the scattered documents. She opens the first page 'Drago Morningstar' is written on it, strange name, she thinks. She opens the next page 'Nightmare' is written on it. The word catches her attention, " Nightmare" she mumbles. "Nightmare" Rachael mumbles. A little force bends the air around the table as breeze brushes some documents to the ground. Suddenly, the book starts to flip pages by itself and Rachael panics. She runs to a corner of the office and looks in fear .
