Opening The Books Novels & Stories

The book landed in my hands. It was heavy and very dusty. I brushed the surface with my hand, sending a small cloud of dust into the air. The cover was plain. There was no title and no markings. It looked old...very old. I carried it to the table and placed it down carefully. My heart was beating faster now for reasons I did not fully understand. I opened it. Inside were pages filled with writing. There were numbers, names and dates. It looked like records. Financial records maybe. “Why hide this?” I murmured.

"Why won't I --" "Forget it. We are getting distracted. Do you have the book with you ?" I took out the book and handed it to her. "Oh, it doesn't ---" I cut Emily with a sigh. "--have any author or publishing house mentioned, I know." I generously completed it for her. "Fine then let's see what kind of myth it is hiding." She sighed and opened the book... well tried to. I frowned. "Stop playing, open the book already." "It's not opening. I'm serious."

I said, folding my arms. "I have no idea, milady, and I apologize for that. I had no idea," Sebastian replied. He jumped from the shelf and approached me, holding a black book. "Here you go. I found this in the forest. Curious about what it does, I picked it." He placed the book in my hands, and I examined it closely. The only thing written on it was "Book of Names." "What kind of book is this?" "I don't know. I tried opening it, but it didn't budge," Sebastian encouraged me, saying, "Try to open it, milady. Maybe it will open."

"I wasn't going to" "Liora. You can look at it." She looked at him. At the book. Back at him. "It's in a case," she said. "The latch is.. ." "Left side. Lift and pull." She set her mug on the side table and went to it with the careful focused energy of someone approaching something they genuinely respected. The case opened. She lifted the book out with both hands, the automatic reverence of a bookseller handling something old and real, and turned it over slowly.

We try not to have just one person here at a time for safety reasons, but with only having the three of us for so long we kind of got used to it. I sit behind the register while Clark turns on the OPEN sign and unlocks the door. A few people who were waiting for us to open pour in, eager to get their books. I told Clark I’d let him have the run of the place this morning for training purposes, but really, I’m tired and want to look through the Book of the Beast. I take a big gulp of coffee and set my mug down on the floor next to me. There are two stools behind the register, but the floor is safer. I’m less likely to be spotted by a customer when I’m down here. Great customer service, I know.

Although she had not opened the box, Thea knew the Book of Malice was within the box and would also have records of Demonic Breath and Murderous Energy. After thinking for a while, she picked up the needles and inserted them into the box. Click! The box opened instantly. As expected, there was indeed a book within it. The book was stored in a sealed box and was preserved well. Thea looked at the book with hesitation and contemplated if she should open it to take a look. She wondered if she should practice Demonic Breath and Murderous Energy. After contemplating for a while, she could not resist the temptation and opened it to read through it.

I looked at the study door, visible through the open library door, the closed study door with his voice behind it, low and measured, the managed register or something close to it. I picked up my book. I looked at the page. I did not read.

I took a pic of me eating and posted with the hashtag #latenightsnack I washed the leftover dishes and went upstairs to freshen up and get ready for bed When I came out of the bathroom the first thing I noticed was the brown paper packed with books and that old journal slipping out of my bag I crawled over to the middle of my bed to check it out. I opened the bag completely and brought out all the books, I picked up the journal and it actually looked really old, especially the leather on it, then I remembered Mr Jonathan's word's '...That book will test you...' I took a deep breath and opened the book. The pages were.... Blank?? I flipped through the book and it was the same I actually didn'

" He yelled at the blonde guy. "What do you mean? Why are you so scared, like a baby? Why can't we open it? "Why are we here if not to find something that will be beneficial to our city?" "I am not disputing that; all I am saying is that this book that is tied with red linen might be sacred, and only the elders and Alphas are supposed to open it. I am only suggesting we take it to them right away." They both swiftly cleaned off the dust on their hair and bodies, while the blonde guy carried the book with utmost care, his face all laced with curiosity.

I hope it holds what we need. Nate led us towards the library, opening the large dark oak doors. We entered smelling the stale air of old books and dust. The entire circular walls were covered in books. Nate went up the spiral staircase to the second floor. He opened a class display and pulled the book out. He handed it to me when he returned back downstairs. The book had a red leather binding with singed in words that read A New Leader. I didn't understand the title considering the subject we were looking into.
