I didn’t think she would be here in the academy too.” Coral was one of the people Zen wasn’t so sure about initially. However, Vera’s recommendation made him think twice. She was the odd one out in Oriole’s new party because of her background. Like Oritha, she was very athletic and would make a great warrior in the game. Unlike Oritha, who had dark hair, Coral had golden hair and amber eyes. However, she was tanner than Sasha and Akiko. The scar on her left cheek and the iron brand on her left inner wrist spoke volumes about the type of life she had previously.

Alfi asked in an amazement. “Alfi, focus!” Koji scolded him. “Don’t let our guard down! He is an orange ranked member, he must be very strong.” He added agitated. “Exactly! Waku-Waku has 3 ranks! Pink rank is for the newbies who haven’t summoned Ribo or they don’t have Jowa. Orange rank is for the ones who have both Jowa and Ribo which means they are very strong!” Wira explained. “Wait, it means the pink ranked members don’t have Jowa, right? How do they use Doki-Doki without Jowa?!” Koji asked.

Her arms wrapped around herself as she tried to hold herself together. “Don’t hold back, Maze. Let it happen, let your dragon guide you!” I called out to her, seeing her visibly struggling. She grits her teeth while trying to relax her body, trusting my words. Orange smoke swirls around her… making my eyes widen in shock. I’ve never seen an orange dragon before… I bet she’ll be beautiful. Before I know if she’s standing in front of me in her orange dragon’s form. She has bright golden eyes, and sharp wings like her father.

Rachelle sat down next to Spitfire’s sub and her own sandwich, across from me. “Oooooooooh, that smells so good!” came a small, girly voice from Rachelle’s direction opposite me but Rachelle hadn’t spoken. I blinked and my eyes focused on one of her shirt pockets where a tiny orange creature’s head, neck, shoulders, and forearms emerged. The creature did indeed look like a tiny dragon. The particular orange color that she was was just a couple of shades darker than an orange crayon, pretty orange but not a bright or loud orange. Her ears were pointy. Between her ears there was a red crest that gave the impression of a hairdo.

The pink goes first, and then the orange. I watch it happen from the outside of myself, the way the dying are said to. The sunset-orange scales along my flanks, the ones my father used to call my evening-tail because he said they reminded him of the hour just after vespers, dim to the colour of wet stone. Then the coral-red across my chest. Then the pale gold at my wrists. My scales are dying and I am still inside them. Below me, the water is the colour of closed eyes.

Kai smirks, “I think so. They’re only eyes, they can’t be that bad, can they?” Ash leans forward a little, and nods. She purses her lips and reaches for the glasses, pulling them down slowly. Her eyes are a vibrant dark-green which makes Kai think of malachite stones he’d seen with the darker lines radiating out from the centre. But that wasn’t the truly astonishing thing about her eyes. The ring around her pupils, with thin lines radiating out towards the edge of the iris, is bright orange. But the orange was glowing softly.

"It used to be a Demon glamour but now I think it's permanent. The green... Well, I was always a glitchy demon. Why do you ask? Couldn't you recreate this coloring with your skill as a Marker?" "Not permanently. There are about a dozen ways I could create that green but it would fade over time. I was hoping for a sample of your fur so I could reverse engineer the dye your Marker used, but you didn't use one..." The Orangelo sighed. "But that's fine. I am working on some new dyes for blue right now and if those work out, I might be able to blend them with the yellows I already use." Sinking down to the floor so he was on the same level as Lexi, the Orangelo pressed his face against the bars.

It was the blue color as the sun in her dreams. June thought to herself the signal is already being sent. She put her hand in her pocket. Felt something small and round. She pulled it out. It was an orange, a real orange that was fresh. She looked at the soldier. Said, where did this orange come from because there are no trees anywhere in the world. The soldier looked at the orange. His eyes got really wide. He said, this is impossible nothing can grow in all the ash that's everywhere. June looked back at the tower. The blue light was getting brighter it was pulsing like a heartbeat.
