The leader of the infiltration unit, known only as Viper, checked his watch before signaling the others forward. “This is it,” he whispered. “We get the blueprint and disappear before anyone knows we were here.” They moved swiftly, bypassing security measures with practiced ease. The deeper they went, the more their confidence grew—until something felt wrong. The air was too still. Viper held up a fist, signaling a halt. His sharp eyes scanned the corridor ahead, and then he saw it, the faint gleam of a tripwire nearly invisible against the dim lighting. His breath caught. “It’s a trap.”

Viper's name stares back at me, a lifeline to control in a world spinning out of my grasp. I had left the wallet on Maria's desk with intention, a GPS tracking device and mic concealed inside, an unblinking ear to her every move. He removed his helmet, revealing sharp cheekbones and a smirk that made her stomach tighten. "Not bad," he said, stepping closer. "For a rookie." Viper scoffed. "Rookie? I’ve been dropping bodies since before you learned to reload."

With a flick of her wrist, a long and curved serpent sword appeared in her hand. The sword moved in the air and took down two villagers with it. As one of the five Dark Occult Guardians, Viper was just as powerful as Toad. The villagers were no match for her. However, Tyr, with the Ormr Dagger in hand, ran forward and split Viper’s serpent sword in half. Inches away, the Ormr Dagger came straight at Viper. It was so fast. She did not even have time to react. Yet, an elder behind suddenly shouted, “Keep her alive, Mr. Summers!”

She slowly reached into the pocket of her plum-colored dress and pulled out a small, sleek device. It was a remote trigger. "Isabella," Elara said, turning to face her. "You’re right. There is a Void-Core in this room. And it is emitting a Vane frequency. But it’s not in my neck. Elara pressed the button on the remote. Suddenly, a high-pitched screeching sound filled the room. Isabella let out a cry of pain, clutching her own shoulder. The scanner in the enforcer’s hand went wild, the red light focusing entirely on Isabella’s cream-colored jacket.

"That was a warning shot, Viper. If you wanted us dead, you would have used the main battery." The man in the mask stiffened slightly at the nickname "Viper." Jack's Predator’s Eye—a passive ability of his lineage that heightened his perception of micro-expressions and heart rates—picked up the subtle dilation of the man's pupils behind his visor.
