Since last night he tried to contact Karina but not a single message or call was answered. Saka was so annoyed that he threw his cellphone several times.

It was a thoughtful gesture he had never once made during their two years of marriage. Mike pressed the call button. However, instead of hearing the ringing tone, a flat female operator's voice answered, informing him that the number he was trying to reach was currently unavailable or out of service. Mike lowered the phone from his ear and stared at the screen in disbelief. "Damn it," Mike cursed, tossing the phone onto the bed as irritation suddenly ignited in his chest. He stood up and began pacing back and forth across the room, his jaw clenched tightly. The frustration of being unable to contact Elara infuriated him for reasons he could not understand.

**POV: Aria** Mara never called back. Aria tried three more times before dinner and reached voicemail every single time. She told herself it was nothing. A dead battery. Poor signal on the edge of pack territory where Mara lived. Mara was always forgetting to charge her phone and always laughing about it afterward, showing up with a borrowed charger and absolutely no apology. It was probably nothing. She kept telling herself that all the way down the long corridor to the dining room.

Lore nodded back approvingly, and Maria looked at her phone and begin texting: Hey Scarlet. So sorry about last night. I really didn’t mean it. Just cranky. In a bad mood. Anyway. I really love you and miss you. Where are you. She hit send, and she stood there and looked at her phone. After a minute she said to Lore. “She’s not replying. He wasn’t even straightforward with me. I had no idea what was happening. He sounded so angry and frustrated. Was it just a silly prank? I tried calling him again, but this time, his number was unavailable. Did he block me or something? I let out a disbelieving scoff.

Tell me where the hell you have been?” I rolled my eyes. “I’m sorry I couldn’t reply to your texts, or call you back and no I’m not angry at you.” He replied and that was a good thing to hear.
