I added and she looked confused. "Next week is Thanksgiving." I reminded her. She looked taken aback. "It is?" she asked and I nodded. "Yeah. We have to help prepare." I replied. She looked thoughtful, "What does the pack do for Thanksgiving?" "We spend the whole day together as a group. It's a time to bond as a pack and family. We cook and eat, of course. We also spend time playing games and we usually have a big football game after lunch. Then we have a bonfire at night." I explained and she smiled again.

It’s thrilling, like teasing a dangerous tiger, an addictive feeling I can’t get enough of. He smiles. “Oh yes, I’ll teach it to you some time.” “Is sex involved with everything?” “Sex, birth, death, rebirth. The Wheel of the Year. The Underground adheres to it, keeping all the holy days sacred. You know, with orgies.” He winks. I smile. “Sounds very pagan.” “That’s because it is. We even have a patron Goddess we pay our respects to, Diana, Goddess of the moon and the Hunt.”

“Should we just go home?” Gray noticed the drastic fall in her enthusiasm just seconds ago. She knew just how significant Thanksgiving was to Zia. An ancient Pagan festival with Bel being the Celtic God of the sun. The Celts honoured the fertility of the gods with gifts and offerings, sometimes including animal or human sacrifice. Cattle walked through the smoke of the fires and became blessed with health and fertility for the coming year. In Ireland, the fires of Tara were the first ones lit every year at Beltane, and all other fires lit with a flame from Tara.

From a distance, a shadow watched him closely. "Thank you, everyone, for coming tonight…" Sol spoke to them all. "Halloween might be an ancient, pagan celebration, but the reason we celebrate it is a different one… We celebrate uniqueness. Here, together, we celebrate that we are different and that we are free. We celebrate that this is a new world and that we are part of it…" She smiled as everyone else did to her words. "We are free to enjoy ourselves… so let's do it, without worrying on beliefs or symbolism… let's enjoy our free will and our choice to have fun!" She finished and everyone cheered.

I shrugged as I walked down the stairs. I could hear his footsteps from behind as he was trying to keep up with my speed. "Tomorrow, there will be a banquet." He muttered as he went quite like he was expecting me to gasp out in shock. "Yeah, every ninth month. They believe it is the harvest moon and they do their so-called celebration and thanksgiving. So, what about it?" I asked as I entered the kitchen finally. Dahlia was there already as she was preparing breakfast. "Oh! Good morning, Morgan." She greeted me as she wore a broad smile.

“No, no. It was kind of unique, that authority, it was the best...Seriously.” “I don’t want to have this conversation right now.” I say. She raises her brow, her lips curving into that damn smile. “And why not?” “You’ll see.” I say, my gaze flicks to her lips then to her eyes. “Change of topic?” “This year’s thanksgiving will be different.” She says, changing the topic. “Why?” I ask, leaning in. “Normally, my sister and I fly in or the rest of my family comes here for thanksgiving, but this year, Colin, my younger brother is busy, and my parents are busy. I mean, it just won’t feel like thanksgiving without them.”

The holyday season is upon us. Thanks giving, Christmas and new year; the three best holydays. I am over at MCs’ house talking about this and that. When her mom came and joined us, we changed the subject because we were talking about how she was secretly dating. After a while I decided to go home so when I stood up MCs’ mom called me. “Dear, could we have Thanks giving at your place?” Our tradition is that we have thanks giving at one house one year and the other house the next year. We did thanks giving at my place last year so this year we were supposed to do it at their house but MCs’ mom want to do it at our place again.
