When he heard the next sentence coming from her, he felt like his heart was poked with a thousand needles . The pain surged in like a dark cloud blocking all the light and happiness and gripped him from all sides . One moment he felt like he was on cloud nine and the very next all his hopes were smashed into pieces . He took a deep breath and consoled his heart like had been doing since ages . Then he held her Pinky finger with his own and said -

Not completely. Not anymore. “Not enough,” it replies. Of course not. It’s never enough. Pain lingers in my bones— No— What’s left of them. Because something changed when I hit that ground. Something cracked. And something else— Slipped in. “You’re still holding on,” it says.

“How do you forget the person who taught you how to breathe? How do you un-love someone who is written into your very DNA? If you have the cure for this, Jack, tell me. Because loving him feels like dying in slow motion, and I don't think I have enough of me left to survive another day of it.” Jack looked down at our joined hands, a look of utter defeat on his face. “I have no idea,” he whispered, his own voice thick with emotion. “Sometimes, the people we love the most are the ones who are meant to break us, just so we can see what we're made of when we're in pieces.”

“Why did you…” “That’s nothing,” he coldly told me. “It’s not that you’ll read it anyway.” “But I…” I couldn’t be able to finish my sentence. “Tell me.” I bit my bottom lip while gripping my books on my arms tightly like I’m getting a support from it. “It’s not that you’ll understand it anyway.” I uttered, mimicking what he said a while ago. When two broken hearts meet, they find their missing part in each other. I often read that quote. But whenever I tried to believe it, I just couldn’t.

I heard Carson saying something to Paul, but I didn't care. Then Carson was beside my locker. He leaned in and said softly, "You're not broken." I rolled my eyes at him. He has no clue. I feel like I'm made of thin, delicate glass. The slightest ping would shatter me into a million pieces. I know I'm broken.
