Thankfully, it wasn't swollen shut. “Why…That's not important right now.” I walked to my side of the wardrobe and took out the first aid box. “I need to get you patched up.”

I picked up a black lipstick case from the table and opened it to reveal a small blade. I smiled and put it in my bag along with a pink lipstick case that when opened revealed a spray filled with sulfur dioxide, a very harmful gas. If it so much as lands on your skin, it causes burning, itching, and permanent scarring. I put it in but I hoped I didn't have to use it.

I smiled at him and then took the black card from him. “Aren't you forgetting something?”. He asked as I tried to open the car to step down. “What could that be?”. I asked him cluelessly. Then he pointed to his right cheek. But I didn't quite understand what he meant. I observed his right cheek to know if there is something there that he wants me to remove, but I didn't see anything unusual. His right cheek looks flawless. “There is nothing on your right cheek, Kieran”. I said to him and he flipped my forehead with his index finger.

I persist further. “Then, the owner of the dog along with the pedestrian bought you here. There’s good news for you too. You don’t have any internal damage except for the small scratch on your forehead that you received. Also, there are no external injuries except for this” She points her pen at the left side of my face, and instinctively my hand flies to touch the left side of my forehead. The smooth texture now felt slightly jagged. “It’s nothing serious though. It will heal and the clotted skin will fall off within two days. Just avoid picking at it” She advises in her motherly tone.

He gestured for me to look back at the glass wall behind me. Curious, I turned my head to look, and there, my shadow was reflected on the glass. It wasn't very clear, but the dark marks around my neck were unmistakable. My goodness, why were those kiss marks still visible? I quickly took out a compact mirror from my purse to examine more closely. That's when I realized there were scattered reddish-purple marks from my jawline to my upper chest. I finally understood why Chris had asked if I had been bitten by mosquitoes.

So, she answered with a straight face, “All of the time, I guess.” Dr Tiana inhaled deeply. ‘Feisty couple!’ She cleared her throat and explained, "Your sickness is not life-threatening. These reddish-purple marks were caused by aggressive kissing or sucking of the soft skin. It caused the capillaries beneath the skin to rupture,” she explained. She hoped for her patient to understand the simple explanation. Jennet eyed her while smiling puzzlingly; confused at the explanation. There was silence among them as they eyed each other awkwardly. One hoped that the other to understand. The other one hopes for a much better explanation. But, neither one of the two can pick a better moment to speak.

I sighed again and looked away from the mirror but paused when I something caught my eye at the last second. I looked back at my reflection to see a faint bite mark on the side of my breast. Then another on my neck. Then another. And another. And another. There were a couple of them spaced out on certain spots on my skin, some were light pink while others were mere indents that would probably fade away in no time. Oh, Adonis.

Understanding immediately, Eugene obediently nodded. The doctor shone a penlight on both of Eugene's eyes. The bright light pierced his pupils and disappeared. Whether it was his imagination or not, not only his throat but also his eyes felt dry and stinging. "The petechial hemorrhaging is severe, but it will disappear with time.
