The Mate Games
I went to wash up, still flushed, still trying to pretend everything was normal.
Then I looked in the mirror.
The bite mark on my neck, the one he left when he claimed me, hadn’t healed.
It was still sore, raw, and worse… it was black.
The skin around the mark had darkened, veins like ink spreading out from it like cracks in porcelain. I stared, frozen, unable to move, unable to breathe. My fingertips hovered over the mark, but I didn’t touch it. I was too afraid of what I’d feel.
This isn’t how it’s supposed to be.
