“You are not human or one of us.” I broke the silence. “What are you?” I wanted to know. Her smell was very strange, lingering softly in the air. I couldn’t put my finger on it. It was like a sweet herb with a hint of something spicy. It pulled me in, triggering in me a hidden desire to know more about this girl. She shifted uncomfortably in her seat and balled her little gloved hands into fists. This book was released back when I was trying to get traction on it a very long time ago. I’ve never made a single dime from this company, but they’d like to keep my book forever. Even when I did the writing every single day thing and should’ve gotten a “publishing bonus.” It never happened. So they don’t get to keep making money off of me and my writing. This was a much older draft than what I’m currently trying to publish anyway.
