“M-Miss Elder?” There’s no answer. Nancy and I look at each other, then push through a beaded curtain that leads to a little parlor with a round table in the center. On the table is a crystal ball, which sits on a golden stand. The walls are covered in tapestries, eclectic paintings, and collectable plates. At the back of the room, there’s a small shrine with a water fountain. I look around, but don’t see Marisa. Suddenly, Nancy screams from behind me. I rush to her side. She’s looking down at the sofa and pointing.

She stuttered and gulped nervously, bringing out her weirdo spirit. "I can move people.....and objects". She stretched out her hand towards a table and it lifted from the floor immediately. "Seriously?" Khalid scoffed as the table rose to the middle of the air. Octavia couldn't quite understand what his expression meant. But she tried to focus. She turned the table around so it could fly downwards in the air. "And how is this special?" Khalid asked. "Even a kitten can crash this". And with that, the table came crashing on the floor, arousing laughter from his rest of the people in the room.

"Also, I need you to amp the security on this floor. I think that there is a spy in the pack house and it is probably from Zane." Recce nodded and we proceeded into the stairway that led into the archive and we entered the archive room. "So, how about you tell me what you found in the archive that got you so happy last night," asked Recce as we got into the pack Library and I locked the door behind us. "I have no idea where to start. I was searching the archive last night and while I was searching I found that the round table spins like a wheel." Recce looked very ocnfused. 'You are telling me that that table–"

Everyone was staring intently at the center of the round table. They had almost forgotten about the important event tonight. Everyone waited with bated breath. Kelsey and Sheryl also stared nervously at the beam of light in the center of the round table. Philip just frowned slightly. What on earth could have brought Kelsey and Sheryl here? Even people from the Hall of the Underworld had turned up. Immediately after, the small round platform in the center of the round table slowly sank as everyone watched. An ancient wooden box rose from the bottom. The box was carved with dragons and phoenixes, looking very exquisite. It had a light fragrance to it.

Lost. Desperate. Is he in there, begging for a break? A ring of salt has been poured around the chair Evander is tied in, with white candles around the perimeter.

No Fang camera could pierce it. We sat around the circular table—trays of half-eaten lunch forgotten. Celeste and Remy were at one end; the five of us filled the rest. Elara on my left, hand on my thigh under the table. Liora on my right, pinky still hooked in mine. Ravenna across from me, arms crossed, watching Celeste like a hawk. Seraphina beside her, tablet closed for once. Celeste leaned forward—elbows on the table, ruby eyes fixed on me.

The air smelled of money and thin oxygen. In the center of the main chamber sat the Round Table. There were nine seats. Seat Number 4—marked with the rune of the serpent—was dark. The hologram that usually projected Cain’s face was extinguished. The other members were present, either in person or via high-fidelity holographic proxy. They were the invisible kings of the world—arms dealers, media moguls, tech giants. But today, they were silent. They were waiting. At the head of the table, the largest chair swiveled around.

I can feel the energy in the room all being sucked into me. She stops chanting and starts yelling something at Kane, but I can't make it out. The room is too loud. The pain leaves me, and my body starts to lift from the table, breaking the chains that held me down. People begin to appear in the room. I recognised them as the ghosts of the people that had died on this table. I can hear Sarah screaming, begging for mercy. I make myself become upright, hoovering in the air above the table, looking down on her as the ghosts surround her and she backs away.

INAUDIBLE murmuring filled the dome that seemed like it would never end. It was coming from the demons surrounding the round platform where the higher demons of the clan would sit. Five prime seats stood up in the very middle of the platform that had distinct styles and colors based on the higher gods’ personalities who owned them.

*** At 7 pm sharp, all pack members who came to the dining room were astonished by the table decorations. “Oh my God, what the hell is happening in this house?” Lola squeaked, “magic does exist!” “Exist!” Olga parroted. “We don't believe in magic, girls,” Martha corrected, “if you do, you’ll be drawn in the lake that burns sulfur and fire, Revelation 21:8.” Neglecting Martha’s preach, the twins quickly grabbed their cell phones and took pictures of the table decoration.
