dad says as he downs the last coffee in his mug and stands up. And this is my dearest dad, Mr. Ted Allen. He is our pillar; responsible and dependable, and at the same time jovial, funny and quirky. As usual, he has to leave early either for work or an important appointment. Despite his busy schedule, he also tries to make out time to spend with his wife and children which I also admire about him. I said before yawning. "This is what happens when you stay till 3 am watching movies." Dad said before drinking his coffee. "I would say never again, but that would be a lie and you and mom told me to never lie." I said while grabbing a toasted bread. "Our daughter." Mom said while chuckling. A little about our family. Dad owns a record company and mom is the photographer there. They do more than well. And even though they're important people, they always make time for us. For us, family comes first.

I gritted, my hand turning into a fist on my lap. My dad cleared his throat but my eyes didn't wander from his expressionless face, every emotion hidden behind his handsome poker face...like what the fuck...I did not just say he was attractive!?? "Sean is a doctor that was transferred here for an operation for two months. He wanted to live in a hotel but I insisted he lives here with us, which is more homely till he's done with his work" My dad clarified. "Where is he from?" I asked again, my eyes never for leaving his face as my eyes trailed his sharp jawline...where I was, thinking mine were sharp, he's were ten times sharper and more attrac__hell no! Sunday afternoon, while enjoying my day off from my two part time jobs. Dad called, asking if I already ate, what did I ate and how am I doing. He's a big worrier. He's always anxious that I might not be taking care of myself. Others might find it annoying because I'm a grown up man now. I'm already 26, yet Dad treats me like I'm still a baby. But it's rare for someone who isn't related to you by blood, cares for you too much. And I'm grateful for that.

I smiled slightly “What about your dad? Is he a guard?” “No he's a tutor, he helps to teach young warriors how to control their abilities. But he was a guard when he was younger, so he knows how it goes, he expected for me to have to cut ties so I don't really think it bothers him as much as it does my Mum.”

“I take care of him, mostly. If I don’t remember, who will?” “So… wait. You take care of Noah? All by yourself?” “I have some help on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but the rest of the time, yeah. It’s mostly me.” “Your Mom? Dad?” “Mom works in a diner, and has lots of early and late shifts. And my Dad left a while ago. After some easy laughter and conversation, he ended the call wearing a pleased smile. “He’s fine with it. And here’s the bonus—Brad’s staying there too.” My stomach did a wild flip. Brad. “Oh, that’s even better,” Mom said brightly. “See? You won’t be lonely at all. The house will feel full.” Brad had partnered with Dad in business since I was fifteen. A little older, around fifty, but he carried it well—fit frame, silver threading through his dark hair, powerful arms, and that low, authoritative voice that always left me weak-kneed.

After a few minutes of laughing and chatting, Dad hung up with a satisfied grin. “So he’s okay with that. And another thing — he’s with Brad as well.” My stomach flipped. Brad. “Oh my God, Brad is there too,” Mom chimed in happily. “You see, baby? You won’t feel alone there. It’s going to be a full house.” Brad had been Daddy’s business partner since I was fifteen. He was a bit older than Dad — around fifty — but he didn’t look it. He had a great body, silver streaks in his dark hair, strong arms, and a deep, commanding voice that always made me weak.

I can see the warmth in Daddy's eyes as he looks me over. He's so proud of me. I'm his little girl and I beat the system, or so he puts it. Daddy's a blue-collar guy from head to toe, and his construction job is the only thing he's known for a good ten years. His hours aren't even normal, going in when the sun's dying so he can come back late at night.
