He drew the briefcase on the floor up to the bar and slid it across to me. I caught it and looked at him. "What's this?" "Open it and see." Without taking my eyes off him, I opened the briefcase slightly. It was stacked with neat-looking one hundred dollar bills. I brought out one and sniffed it before putting it back. I looked up to see the man watching me closely. "Hi, my name is Zero, glad to make your acquaintance." I lifted a hand towards him in a hand shake and watched in rising amusement, the flow of emotions on his face. I knew he debated on whether to shake me or not. Coming to a conclusion, he brought out his hand and clasped mine in a firm shake.

The waiting area became silent in the next hours the only thing that is heard in the halls is the pouring of whiskey by my father on his glass and the ice he takes from the bucket. "Good news your Alpha Zero!" The door opened and Maleficus elaborate on the news, his face is bright which means it was a success. "Maleficus! Thank you very much, can I get inside now?" Alpha Zero immediately got up on his feet and move to walk inside the room. But before he could make it, Alpha Xander came out with a smile on his face. The crevice on the middle of his elbow is being plastered. "Congratulations Alpha Zero, your baby girl is healthy."

Nobody moved. Nobody breathed. The storm itself seemed to hesitate. Standing at the edge of the clearing was the most feared person in the history of the network. The first subject. The first experiment. The first mistake. Subject Zero. And he looked nothing like the monster Ava had imagined. He wasn't enormous. He wasn't scarred. Then, he turned and signaled to someone outside the door, ignoring Yannis' cursing. A team of police officers swarmed in. The plot twist was so sudden that I could barely process it. I'd spent that night staring at the moon, lost in thought. I didn't know that he had done so many things. I had forgotten how calm and meticulous he could be when he wanted. He just never wanted to be meticulous when it came to me. He didn't want to admit that I was innocent when it came to Mom's death.
