She saw a school of small, colorful fish swimming near the glass. Their eyes looked hungry. "Look! They're so cute!" Ploy exclaimed innocently.

"Shit." Suddenly, something struck his nose. Then another object followed. Could it be... chocolate? Parker erupted into laughter. "Oh, goddess, she did it. She actually did it." Slapping Grayson's back, he exclaimed, "She's pelting you with truffles. This is the most incredible thing I've ever witnessed in my entire life. And trust me, I've witnessed some crazy shit." Parker's laughter grew even louder, his breaths becoming labored in the midst of his amusement.

He then took off the lid from the aquarium, revealing twenty mandarin fishes, the dowager Queen’s favorite fishes. I neared the aquarium and whispered; “Do as we practiced,” to the fishes and they somersaulted excitedly before doing as I asked. The fishes spelled out ‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY’ with a heart, and then ‘YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL’ still with a heart. Gasps of awe erupted and the dowager Queen smiled the brightest. “How do you get them to do that?” She asked, eyes darting from Tristian to me. “She speaks to animals,” Tristian declared, and another row of curious gasps filled the hall.

I say, emphasizing his shock. “Absolutely no brain! But if they lose a point of their star, they can grow it back.” He adds. He pauses. I look over my shoulder towards him. His little face studies the sea star in his hand. I can see the detailed fine lines he etched into the carving. I can see the hundreds of little uniform divots carved onto the underside to represent the tube feet. A look of sadness ghosts his face but is quickly wiped away. “Imagine just being able to heal yourself.” He continues. “Miraculous.”

“I think you're trying to make me fat,” I joked, making him laugh. “And after the meal?” A mischievous glint flashed in Patrick's eyes as he leaned forward. “Do you know how to swim?” he asked, smiling in a smug and charming way. “I do, but I'm afraid of sharks,” I confessed, eating the strawberry slowly, never taking my eyes off his. He bit his lip and moved closer to me. “Oh, miss, the only one who will get a taste of you today is me!” Pulling me to him, Patrick lifted me up, laying me down on the bench before returning to the table.

Darrion corrected. “Well… Thank you,” Jai turned his back and smiled at them. The creatures seemed to cheer, because they flew slightly higher before floating down again, flapping their wings a bit faster. It was slightly weird. Jai had this unusual smile on his face, close to a confusion smile, as he whispered. “First, it was a flying jellyfish. And now, flying stingrays. What’s next? A flying whale? At least I hope there won’t be any flying sharks.”
