Weston I put my arm around Scarlet, smiling as we watch Jackson tear into his Christmas presents. The three of us are wearing matching pajamas, which was Scarlet’s idea. Not mine. She said she bought them as a joke, but was rather insistent on all of us wearing them and taking a picture together last night on Christmas Eve. No sooner than Scarlet gets comfortable against me, she jumps up. “Salsa, get out of the tree.” She grabs the black kitten and brings him to the couch with her. Sami's POV: ~almost 3 weeks later, Christmas Day~ Today is Christmas and the house is humming with excitement. The girls and I stayed with our guys at their house last night so we could spend our first Christmas together. Naomi and Maddox even came over for the night too.The girls are now huge as hell but I love them just the same. We all decided just to wear our Christmas pajamas all day today the guys not so much. They love Christmas but not enough to show the Christmas spirit and that's okay. It was almost midnight now, the Christmas tree lights twinkling cheerfully in the corner of the living room, casting colorful glows of red, green, and gold across the walls and ceiling, making the ornaments sparkle like distant stars in a private sky. Coco was curled up at Grandma’s feet, breathing deep and content, occasionally twitching in some happy dog dream, tail thumping once against the cushion. I learned to be thankful and quiet. That acceptance made me hate Christmas. Love songs made my skin crawl. The lights under our tree looked like glass eyes. The ribbons on the presents were traps. Every year, the house tuned itself to cheer and I pretended to enjoy it. The twenty-fifth became the night when a new kind of cold touched my bones. It was the day the truth had crawled out at me like an animal. It was the day I had learned how much of my life had been decided by other hands.

I smiled at her as I held her in my arms before passing by my bed and walking us into the living area where all the candles were still turned on, the projector was sitting there waiting for me to push play as I laid her down on the massive bed of pillows. Much to my satisfaction, Liam wasted no time and leapt into the air, reaching for his throat with his claws. Liam was fast and strong, too.
