Instead, I focused on my new companion. The puppy was a mixture of cream and light brown, with a soft patch of black fur near one ear. His eyes, big and round, seemed to hold a curiosity about the world that made me want to protect him from everything—even from Aiden.

Seeing a car coming in, it kept barking agitatedly. Jun saw that Laura had been looking out of the car, so he smiled and said to her: "Miss Laura, don't be afraid, Edsel should have heard me coming back, that's why you're so excited!" Laura also smiled at Jun, but Jun could see that she was still a little nervous, so she asked the driver to drive the car a few more steps toward the house.
