Sucking in air in a way that threatened to close his windpipe while jerking his hand back from her grasp with shock, Oliver choked out, “Eliza?”
“In the flesh,” she humorously replied.
“How? Why?” he asked.
“She’s a wolf, brother,” Richard eagerly volunteered. “Who knew?”
“I sure didn’t,” she interjected.
“You’re a wolf?” Oliver repeated. “A wolf like Richard?”
“She’s just as beautiful as a wolf as she is a woman,” Richard said with admiration. “And fierce! You should have seen how she defended her father.”
“I barely remember that,” she complained.
“Time will make the shifting easer,” Richard assured her. “You’ll eventually not only remember everything, but you’ll look forward to the shift
