Williams clenched his weak fists beneath the covers. Penelope let out a sigh, stood, and wandered toward the window, watching the city blink below like stars under her feet. “This is just the beginning, you know,” she said. “Soon, I’ll be Mrs. Andy Smith.” Williams tried to move. To rise. But his body refused to obey. Penelope turned back to him, pitying and cruel. “Oh, are you trying to stand? That’s cute.” She crossed to the bed, reached for the pillow. “No more delays,” she whispered, the voice of her conscience nothing but a fading echo. “Time to discard you.”

-Father I read it again, slower this time, each line etching itself into me like fire. The twelfth wolf... her father's voice bled through the ink, thick with both warning and promise. Penelope wasn't just another piece in this endless war-she was something far more dangerous, far more necessary. For Rhegal? Or for him? Nothing still seemed to make sense. No hidden message, no hidden detail. I folded it with care and slid it into my pocket again. Wilson's eyes darted around the room, searching for a place to conceal themselves from the intruder. "Quickly, behind the wardrobe!" Mrs. Wilson whispered, pointing to the large wooden wardrobe in the corner of the room. Penelope tried to move, but her legs still felt numb and unresponsive. She stumbled, almost falling to the ground. Mrs. Wilson and Yvonne rushed to her side, supporting her weight and helping her to move towards the wardrobe. They squeezed themselves behind the wardrobe, their bodies pressed tightly together. Penelope's heart raced as she listened to the sound of footsteps coming closer and closer to the door. She could hear the intruder muttering something under their breat

Sharon asked in confusion. Penelope sneered and said, “You’re so shameless. I’ll let everyone know about what you’ve done in court later.” After speaking, her gaze landed on the man in the wheelchair. She grew even more disdainful. “How dare you bring him along on an occasion like this?” she asked. Her gaze reflected just how much she looked down on Simon. After all, she thought that he was a boy toy dependent on Sharon’s money. Sharon thought that Penelope’s choice of words was extremely odd. It seemed like Penelope had something that could be used against her in her hands.

Deep within her she knew she wasn't the kind of girl that would be classified a good digger but she couldn't help from feeling like one, afterall she was using him for his wealth. She heard him sniffle and her attention was pulled out of her thoughts to him,he stirred slightly,making few strands of his hair fall across his face, Penelope tilted her head slightly to the side as she watched him, while still thinking. She remembered how few weeks ago,her life was as normal as possible untill now, knowing of the existence of things like demons and lycans,hmm,she wondered if witches did exist too like in the stories,she laughed at her own thoughts and this seemed to have woken Dorian up.

The cafeteria falls in dead silence and I gulp dryly and watch in horror as the four fellows march towards Arthur and I with a very furious looking Penelope, leading the way. “This is the tramp who said those mean words to me” She reports with a shaky voice. She’s still terribly shaken by what I said to her in the morning. What a cry baby. Ward steps before her and looks down at me with pure hatred burning in his eyes and I make sure to maintain eye contact with him. To be honest, I’m terrified that he’s here and I know he’s going to mess me up, but I’m not going to let him do that without a fight!

Gina said as she sobbed. “Please, Gina. However it happens, I’ll be glad that you tried to save me and I’ll die happily knowing that you will continue from where I stopped. So wipe your tears now, you’re supposed to be strong. Go and take the spell book and look for the spell. You have to do this quickly, I don’t have any more time on my side. It’s either now or never I trust you.” Penelope said with a weak smile that didn't teach her eyes. She was losing a lot of strength and she was losing it quickly. Gina managed to pick her downcast self from the ground and rushed to get the spell book just like Penelope said.

Anya snuggled into her, her small body warm against Penelope’s side. As Penelope read, Anya listened with rapt attention, occasionally letting out little gasps of excitement or giggles at funny parts. As the story progressed, however, her blinks became slower, her breaths softer. By the time Penelope reached the last page, Anya had completely drifted off, her tiny fingers clutching the edge of the blanket. Penelope carefully tucked her in, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. “Sweet dreams, little one,” she whispered. She got up quietly, turning off the lamp before stepping out of the room. Once she was in the living room, she let out a deep breath, stretching slightly. She glanced at her p

POV: Julian Vane-Moretti The night was supposed to be a period at the end of a very long sentence. But as I stood in the quiet of my private study in the Nexus, the city humming like a distant hive outside my window, I realized that for an Auditor, there is no such thing as a finished book. There is only a ledger that hasn't been turned to the next page yet.

This is where the second book ends (yay). I’m ending it here because I felt that the storyline was starting to get too long for one book. This means that there’ll be a third book, but (drumroll) it’ll be part 2 of this one. But I’m calling it Mates and Temptations because The Pains of Guilt Part 2 didn’t sound catchy. And as a special little something, I added a bonus chapter after this one and a little blurb about the third book. I don’t have an exact date for when I’ll release book 3 because when it comes to my writing, I hate deadlines (they make me rush things and it affects the quality of my writing). The only reason I had one for this book is that I already had a lot of chapters ready
