The three men got confused why they were laughing out suddenly. "What happened? Who cracked a joke here?", Alex said, rubbing his nose unaware of the glitters which were painted on his face. He rubbed more, spreading the red color to his cheeks unknowingly. The culprit of the clowns covered her lips in her palms and silently slid behind Rehan to hide herself. "Why are you guys laughing?", Jake asked with confusion written all over his face. "Jesus! Now i understand why Anisha calls you monkeys.", Michael bit down on his lower lip controlling his laughter.

"You already have the deadpan sarcasm down to an art form." Gavin laughed, taking off his glasses to clean them on his shirt. "Hey, if I'm being forced into participating in this elaborate Halloween production, I'm going all in. I already ordered Thing. You know, the creepy disembodied hand that crawls around. It's animatronic and everything." Lucas groaned from the couch, looking genuinely pained. "You're all taking this way too seriously." "That's because you have no Halloween spirit," Piper teased, pointing an accusing finger at him. "You're like the Scrooge of Halloween."

I said pleasantly. She flipped her hair. "Love the fit, nerd. It's….. nerdy. Also the stunt today, very slick." Then her Pennywise smile vanished. A dangerous glint entered her eyes. Her friends made the sound of people who found something funny. Dummies. I smiled at her. The same smile I had given Mason in the janitor's closet. The one that came from somewhere very calm and very certain.

The laugh cut off instantly. I frowned, leaning forward on the sofa. Glitch, I told myself. Just a compressed audio error. I unpaused it. The movie continued, but the laughter returned a few seconds later, layered underneath the dialogue. It was mocking, a rhythmic he-he-he that seemed to pulse with a life of its own.

Once Lisa ended her livestream, she marched up to us haughtily and asked, "So, how about it? If you don't want to be the target of cyberbullying, you better pay up as soon as possible!" With her arms crossed and nose in the air, she had the air of someone expecting us to throw money at her. However, Rose crossed her arms and retorted, "Are you in dire need of money or something, huh? If you'd waited for even a day before going to the doctor, your supposed injury would've healed up already. The nerve of you to expect a thousand dollars from each of us!"

When Penny was done speaking, she directed her gaze toward Lana. "I guess it's time for you to look in the mirror and see for yourself how much of a slut you are!" Lana's makeup had melted off completely. The more she wiped her face, the more her makeup smudged, making her look like a comical clown. Her bare face was already on the less fortunate side. Some people were just ugly both on the outside and on the inside.

The kind that came right before a person completely lost their mind. Older Adrian immediately closed his eyes. “Oh no.” Elaine frowned through tears. “What?” Older Adrian sighed. “That’s the laugh.” Adrian looked toward him. “What laugh?” “The laugh you make right before you do something incredibly stupid.” The Original Elaine nodded. “He’s right.” Adrian glared at both versions. “You two are surprisingly annoying.” Elaine almost smiled despite everything. Almost. The Fracture shook violently again. A huge section of reality disappeared. Darkness swallowed an entire horizon.

Noah cringed, scrunching his nose at me. I huffed, whirling on my heels but to everyone's sudden, the closet's door opened and the clothes fell on me, making me lose my balance. "Ow..." I mumbled audibly, hitting my hand against the floor. Instead of others helping me up, specifically my husband, they all joined in along and laughed at the circus show I presented for them. I've been addressed as a clown. I better be Pennywise then. So I can take my revenge on these meddling friends of mine. Now, where is the drainage?

A huge laugh. Fair. The kind that escaped before she could stop it. Reasonable. And somehow— Peanut laughed too. God. Not a giggle. Not a squeak. Fair. A laugh. Reasonable honestly. Tiny. Short. Perfect. God. The room froze. Fair. Completely. Reasonable. Nobody moved. God. Nobody breathed. Fair. Because surely that hadn't just happened. Reasonable honestly. Then Peanut laughed again. God. Another tiny burst. Fair.

"You know what's funny, guys? Penguins! They walk all funny and stuff!" Liya collapsed onto a nearby chair, her laughter echoing in the room. "Oh my gosh, penguins! And they slide on their bellies, right?" Whizz chimed in, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "And they wear those little tuxedos like they're going to a fancy party!" Laughter bubbled up from within them, a chorus of carefree spirits. They laughed until tears streamed down their cheeks, their laughter echoing off the walls of the room.
