Percy had given me a glimpse of hope, and I wasn't going to let it slip away. As we lay there in the quiet, his breath evened out, and he drifted to sleep. I listened to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat and the faint sounds of the cicadas outside.

It was like watching a movie for Mia. Everything seemed so when she suddenly realized that they were fighting. Right above her head a fight was going on. She couldn't believe what she was seeing.
