“You’ll have me.” XENIA’S POV The third was Reyna. A former handmaid. No one important. No title. But she had eyes that noticed everything. And she didn’t talk much. Years ago, she’d been dismissed for refusing to lie on behalf of a council member’s wife. No one questioned it. She was quietly pushed out. I found her working in the kitchens now. She didn’t seem surprised to see me. “You need someone who hears things,” she said. I nodded.

“I was an Omega. The weakest in my pack. “You were never an Omega,” Kael said, “Your old pack was blind. They suffocated you with their regulations and their social structure. Your real nature could not breathe in that land. The rejection was the key that unlocked you,” Kael said. He nodded at the spot on my leg. He stood silent long enough for the question to settle heavily in the air. Finally: “I don’t know.” Amelia lowered her gaze. I leaned back slowly against the head of the council table, watching him. “You kissed her.” “Yes.” “You allowed emotional attachment to develop.” His jaw tightened. “Yes.” “And still your answer is that you do not know.” Percy exhaled quietly. “I have spent most of my life serving this empire. Serving you. I understand exactly what Seraphina represents — politically, socially, publicly. I know the consequences of involving myself with her.” His gaze lifted to mine. “So yes, Your Majesty. After acting cutely to Philip, Reyna's car left. Inside the car, Philip threw his suit away and changed into a new one. He frowned when he smelled Reyna's scent on him. So he took a bottle of expensive perfume and sprayed himself some of it. "Just take a bath later, Dad." "I hate her perfume. Too sweet." "Why not gift her a perfume?" "I gave her one before. But she did not like the smell. Her taste is so bad." Xander: "..." Philip and Reyna had different tastes when it comes to perfume. Although Philip subtly hinted at Reyna to change her perfume, the other did not receive it. Reyna thought Philip liked everything about her- including her overly sweet perfume.

And here I am, standing in jeans and a simple t-shirt, feeling out of place but oddly relieved to no longer be in a hospital gown. Serena steps forward, clapping her hands twice.
