The woman is in her late fifties early sixties maybe and gives off a grandma vibe. I like her already. “ Ailee meet Anna. A sort of den mother of the club.” I start to stand to greet her and she stops me “ Oh no sweetie. You sit. I’ll come to you.” Anna comes to me and wraps me in a tender hug. “ It is so nice to finally meet you, Ailee.” “ It’s nice to meet you as well,” I say.

“Is she alright?” She can hear a soft voice, perhaps a girl. Anna stirs and slowly opens her eyes to find herself in an alien chamber. The face of a pretty girl in her mid twenties appears in front of her. The girl has short cropped ginger hair with sharp features and small freckles on her nose. She is not so tall but there is an elegant vibe swirling around her. Anna also notices that the girl is wearing a tiara with the emblem of the Costas.

“You’re not the Council.” The figure leaned back slightly. “No.” Ariana stepped into the doorway behind him. “And you’re not afraid we came together.” The figure turned then. Slowly. Deliberately. And for the first time— they saw her. Not fully older. Not weak. Not hidden. A woman in her early fifties. Sharp features. Eyes that carried recognition too quickly. Too personally. She stood. And smiled faintly—not warmly, but knowingly. “I was wondering when you would ignore instructions, Ariana.”

I am sure I will figure it out soon. “ See. ” Anne pushes her phone’s screen close to my face so I can take a look at the picture. “ Is this him? ” Giana asks hopefully. I shake my head. Anne shows me the next picture and then the next and another one. We see a lot of pictures, but he doesn’t turn out to be anyone of them. “ Are you sure he was an Alpha? I have shown you pictures of all the Alphas already. ” Anne throws the phone aside and lies down on the bed, irritated.

On the other end of the line, Theo hung up respectfully. After half an hour, Philip was sitting in Theo’s office. A knock on the door.
