I doze off and on for a while, eventually getting up to dig a mint out of my purse to try and settle my stomach that won’t stop swirling. I sit back in bed, feeling a little better with the mint in my mouth. Something is off, and I know it. I don’t have a fever, and I don’t feel like I have the flu. Plus, I’m not nauseous all day. It’s just off and on.

I say as I give a mischievous smile. "Do you want to kill me?" He asks, his lips parted. I'm about to give a response when I suddenly loose my balance. "Woah." I say, as Luke helps me sit on the bed. "Are you okay?" Luke asks, concerned. "Yeah, I don't know, I keep getting a stomach upset frequently. My waist hurts too." "Well, that's because you eat all the sugar there is in the world!" Luke says. "No, I don't." I defend myself.

Emma held onto her stomach as she gagged. Her lips were parted and her eyes were closed. "Ahnnngg..." She made a loud sound as something threatened to go up her throat, however, nothing came out. She felt really uncomfortable and at the same time, she was confused. She rested her back on the wall slowly, not knowing what to do. She had never felt like this before and the uncomfortable feeling in her throat and abdomen wouldn't stop. A few seconds passed and Emma couldn't take it anymore.

Everything felt blurry, as if I was looking at the world through a thin veil. Then, a strange sensation started in my stomach. It was not like the usual warm feeling wine gives you. This was different. It was sharp and uneasy, a twisting discomfort that rolled slowly through my body. I shifted in my seat, pressing one hand lightly against my waist. I thought maybe it was just the stress, or the sadness weighing me down. I tried to take a deep breath, but the air felt thick and hard to pull in.

“Let’s figure out what’s going on, okay? Can you tell me how you’re feeling?” Elle hesitated, her hands twisting in her lap. “I’ve been… nauseous. Dizzy. Tired. It started this morning, but I’ve felt off all week. I thought it was stress, but…” She trailed off, her voice cracking. “It’s been a lot lately.” Dr. Lee nodded, her expression thoughtful as she jotted something down. “Any other symptoms? Changes in appetite, mood swings, anything unusual?”

I swallow hard, still clutching to the parcel, scared that it might get jerked out of my arms…. I stand at a corner of the room and everyone moves in with ease and starts conversations amongst themselves but I do not know any of them and I doubt they have ever seen me as well. I feel odd so I scroll through my phone, my gaze falling at the screen with my fingers tapping aggressively even when I know there's nothing I'm actually doing worse than distracting myself. I feel my belly churn a little. Maybe I've gotten constipation or it's probably my period coming through already. I don't know if it is a bad thing or a good one.

I paused as Tate set me down on the table and the doctor started pressing on my stomach with her fingers. “It is like I have the urge to throw up, but nothing comes up. Just thinking about food makes my stomach turn but when I do eat, I just can’t get enough. There is some pressure here,” I said, pointing to my lower abdomen. “But for the most part, there isn’t much else to tell.” “She says things taste different and she smells things that even I can’t smell.” Tate added in for me. “Hm.” That was all the doctor said, before turning to dig through a drawer beside the table.
