The fragile peace they’d been living in for the past week and a half felt like thin ice—beautiful on the surface, but ready to crack with one wrong step. “Yo, boss lady,” Mikey called from across the bay, his voice cracking with that awkward teenage enthusiasm. The nineteen-year-old prospect was sprawled dramatically across a workbench, pretending to fan himself with an oily rag. “If you keep making these bikes sound like angry demons, I’m gonna start thinking you sold your soul to the devil. He tried to pounce on her again. Jessie handed the cup of fruit juice to him. “Have some fruit juice first.” An hour later, Jessie walked into the washroom. She looked at Micah, who was sleeping soundly on the bed when she came out of the washroom. There was a disgusted look on her face. Micah was a darn animal. He was sleeping soundly just like a pig! A thought flashed across her mind when she saw how him lying on the bed without moving. She took out her phone and walked up to him. She then took some photographs of him.

He grinned at Millie. She rolled her eyes and finished setting the table. Millie dished up the casserole and sauteed potatoes and placed them on the table. Nick got the bottle of wine and Coke for Lucy. Nick waited until the plates were empty. " Hey Lucy, you didn't happen to pick a photograph up from the kitchen floor at Cawlin, did you?" "Yes I did, I put it in my pocket and forgot about it. You don't want to know anything about her. She, Melissa is the biggest skank in the school.

I commanded before walking off and heading toward the main office. The main office was a pigsty. Empty cigarette butts littered the floor and the desk; papers were strewn everywhere, and empty beer bottles sat on every shelf. Mickey had no respect for my business, nor did he respect my facilities. His disrespectfulness needed to be dealt with immediately. I took out my phone and texted one of my bouncers a picture of Mickey and the word outside immediately after. The bouncer sent back a thumbs-up emoji indicating the message was received.

No one else in the town heard that hum. MICKEY WROTE PROFUSELY. His knuckles were shades of violet and blue and his ink was at the clutch of draining. Only the persimmon light from his night lamp lit his sweaty and greasy notebook, leatherbound and obviously used to the point that the sheets are loosely coming off its spine. Marco said, "Oh, it is, especially since Micro-Dick came around and hurt my girl." Sam looked at Marco, her eyes narrowed. "How would you know he has a micro-dick?" Marco looked at Sam, his expression comical. "Well, look at him, obviously! And I just have the radar for these things. You know how some people have gaydar?" Sam nodded, and Lily chuckled. Marco continued, "Well, I have dick-dar, and trust me, his was microscopic." Everyone at the table laughed, even me, despite my embarrassment. Marco continued and said, "So why should we allow it?" Marco looked at Jude, his expression serious.

I looked up to see Micca standing there with a glare on his face. His eyes are shiny lime green with flecks of silver. I had always believed they were identical. They aren't. Miles is slightly taller. His demeanor shouts bad boy. Micca is the complete opposite. His blue and white high tops go perfectly with his dark-fitted jeans, tight only where it counts. The blue t-shirt reads "Home is Where The Paws Are" with the outline of a dog around it. He had taken his time with his hair and the black hoodie makes me want to hug him. If I didn't know who he really was under his stupid mask. "Can you see me now?" he asks. I laugh. His smile drops and he stares at me like he's seen a ghost.

"You listening to me?!" Mickey yelps, nearly blowing out my eardrum. "Christ, Mick, what –" "You fucking got married?!" I stare at the ceiling. "What?" "There are pictures coming out of whatever bumfuck town you're in," Mickey says. "I've been able to head a few off at the pass, but some news outlets have already started publishing stuff. And God, the fucking TikToks." "TikToks?" Mickey sighs. "Of you and some woman shopping? At a jewelry counter? In a mall??? For fuck's sake, Rex, you can at least get the woman a nice ring, not any of that every 'kiss begins with Kay' shit."
