Jarren “Baby, what are you doing?” I questioned as Jillie stuck her hand into my back pocket. We’d arrived to meet Mason and Alyx just a few minutes ago and were all standing in the middle of the shopping plaza. She pulled my wallet from my back pocket, opened it, and took out one of my debit cards. Then, she handed me the wallet, and I put it back into my pocket. She dropped it into the side of her purse and grabbed my belt loops.

He then delved his hand into his suit pocket and brought out a tablet. This was the device he always carried around for me, and whenever I needed it, he gave it to me without hesitation. As he had explained to me, this device contains everything I need to accomplish tasks, including managing finances, from anywhere in the world where I find myself, and for this reason, it is always kept under his protection. Scrolling my hand on the tablet and launching one banking app out of many others that I have, “Account details,” I said confidently. Hearing me loud and clear, and as Avanna recited her account details to me, we all heard her phone ring almost immediately.

The card stock is dirty and a little crumpled, but still plenty readable. Next, I take hold of my backpack, pulling it toward me. My cell phone—another thing I thought I’d never see again—is in the front pocket exactly where I put it what feels like a million years ago but was really less than a week ago. An even more unexpected sight is the stack of money from H&H tucked in next to my phone. Looks like I can bring some benefit to the pack after all. I chuckle and make a note to myself to give the cash to Julian.

He reaches into his pocket, pulls out a folded piece of paper, and hands it to me. "I’ll wire the funds to your account. Please don’t get cheap stuff, only top of the line." I unfold the paper. The first item on the list makes perfect sense. It starts going downhill after that. 1. Books (Fiction, Sci-Fi, Fantasy. Absolutely nothing regarding architecture). 2. More clothes. Leather pants and jacket. Calvin Klein underwear. A few mesh shirts. Anything hot you come across.. My eyebrows shoot toward my hairline when I get to the next item.

“We improvise it live.” Pauly handed her a slim, battered paperback—Mockingbird, cover worn, pages gutted to hold a wafer-thin transceiver and a micro-SD slot. “Your new copy. Same weight as the real one. Press the title twice if you’re burned; it wipes your last three hours and plays an audiobook. Press the author twice and it pings us with location.” She slid the book into her tote without looking. “And if I press the spine?” “It complains about being objectified,” Pauly said.

Dominic reached into his back pocket and pulled out his old leather wallet. Holding it in front of him, it looked much too large to have fit in his pocket, but Leesa knew the wallet was magic. Not only did it fit in places it shouldn’t, but it somehow held more stuff inside than a good-sized suitcase. She had seen Dominic pull stacks of cash and handfuls of jewels out of it. She wondered what he was going to take out now.

He grabbed the book, walking to Leo's office. Leo sat at his desk, flipping through the projects Pinnacle Electronics had up and coming. He huffed as he flipped, reading the project information on a current laptop design. The design and product revenue would bring in money in the billions. Leo had worked hard to seal this deal and the manufacturers of the laptops had helped him create a design prototype.

Kennedy POV. The weather was bad, but I needed to get that new book, it's Robert birthday gift, who'd knew a grown up man would kill for the newest werewolf love book. I got into my car, drove carefully toward the local book store, they had the new book reserved for me. It was supposed to one quick drive, until I walked into the library. A girl was sitting on a bean bag, her blond hair was covering her eyes with overgrown bangs, she tried to huff them away from her face but to no use. She looked young, maybe she's just here with her parents, looking down at the book she had in her hands it was a kids story. Does she read for the local kids? Or is it just for her?

Huh. She had to think about that. Was there anything important they hadn't talked about? An idea popped into her head. "Do you have pictures in your wallet of your family?" "Not in my wallet, but on my phone." He reached into the back pocket of his shorts and pulled out a leather wallet. "ID's in there. You should look at it." From the other pocket he pulled a smart phone and started pushing buttons.
