There was no longer be this, you know, for him and not for him and not for anyone around. I clenched my jaw until I tasted blood. “You think you’ve won,” I whispered to no one, my voice vibrating low and venomous, “but this is only a delay. This is only a setback that I haven't calculated for. I have to admit, I did not think that she would be as strong.” Truth be told, I did not expect a woman like her to stand in my way, but here I was getting a reminder that I shouldn't underestimate anyone. Even the weakest can be strong, provided that they had the power that they needed.

You're special because you arrived at the time no one expected. You won't feel my presence much, for I'm pretty sure your Mother will fill all voids. She's capable. She's the strongest woman I know. “I didn’t come here out of my own free will. But I’m not going to stand here and you talk down to me as if I’m nothing.” He chuckled, dark and dismissive. “You don’t mean nothing in this room.” “You think my being a woman makes me less strong?” My voice was firm now. “You believe my gender equates to weakness, my gender removes my intelligence, my strength, my instant?” “I think,” he shot back, “that your pride is going to kill people.”

My silence was worse. I walked past him toward the door, buttoning the last cuff as I spoke. “You think she’s weak because she doesn’t have fangs or claws. But you weren’t there when she stood in front of a men twice her size and refused to bow. You didn’t see her take every insult, every threat, and still keep her chin up.” I opened the door, my voice colder now. “That woman’s survived more alone than most wolves do in packs. Don’t talk to me about strength.”

“And I won’t let anyone break my daughter. Not him. Not Evelyn. Not even you.” I blinked. “Me?” She nodded. “You’ve been blaming yourself. For everything. For not being strong enough. For still loving him. But let me tell you what strength really is, sweetheart.” She brushed a loose strand of hair from my face, her smile sad but full of pride. “Strength isn’t about never falling apart. It’s about getting back up every single time you do. It’s choosing to keep walking even when you’re bleeding inside. And you, my darling girl, have done that over and over.”

“Mother—” “No, don’t you ‘Mother’ me!” she cut in, her voice rising. “I did not raise a man who hides under blankets while his wife sobs alone! The dew on its leaves shone under the sun's rays bringing the land under the captivity of twinkling like several brittle broken pieces of mirror scattered as she surpassed them. The horse almost rams into a rambler who strolled by the path. A rose was beautiful enough for men and women to yearn for it but its thorns were enough to keep them at bay . She wasn't a frail looking ; timid woman .
