I laughed, a light snort, at her sudden curiousity. "Okay." I shrugged, and thought through my list. I was a horror movie enthusiast, even though they absolutely haunted me for days after. I couldn't watch any of them alone, especially not in the evening. "Poltergeist." I said after a minute. "But not the new version, I'm a sucker for 80's movies." I admitted.

Cassandra's POV "I'm sure the tickets will sell out fast. We're all eager to see the movie," I chuckled, acknowledging the excitement in the air. Despite my amusement, I couldn't help but feel frustrated with my friend's insensitivity. He refused to admit that the horror movie we were about to watch terrified him to the core. He had only watched it once, and since then, he had been plagued by the feeling of ghosts lurking in every corner. Even going near his bed filled him with dread, as he was convinced something was waiting to grab him from underneath. He knew it was irrational, but he couldn't shake off the fear, even after all these years.

I can't believe this is happening on the start of my mini vacation. After a few minutes of feeling sorry for myself I grab my phone to call a tow truck and realize it is completely dead. Crap, I forgot to charge it at work today. I get out of the car and walk over to the hood. I see that it is still a little smoky, so I lift the hood with a towel I had in my back seat. I have no idea what I am looking for but maybe seeing a woman on the side of the road with her head in her hood will indicate a man to stop and offer some help. Wait, isn't that how most horror movies start?

David yelled. “Yeah. The same mother that died when she was 4. The two of them probably look the same age. And Meadow is well aware that her mother is dead. That vampire is just walking around with her mothers face.” Lucas snapped. “How the hell can we put our faith in the daughter of a vampire. I know that I sure as hell don’t.” David yelled. Suddenly we all got a fright when Lucas got up from his seat and the chair fell straight back onto the floor.

I turn my face back to the TV, raising the duvet to my nose. I wasn’t scared of entering haunted mansions but horror movies were a big no-no for me. You know what I hate about horror movies is the characters, they always act dumb. Like who goes into a dark shed in the middle of f***ing nowhere at night asking if anyone is there? Like why would you do that? Of course, someone is going to be there and jump at you duh, that’s basic knowledge but I guess characters didn’t get the memo. I would never do something like that, ever. You can never even find me in the middle of nowhere at night.

I can say all of this because the distance between us is great. With every word I say, I keep moving back. Almost like he understands the assignment, he keeps following me, though he doesn't close the distance between us. I'm pretty convinced he's no way a he—not with his extra-white hands. I quickly dip my hands into my handbag, though my eyes never leave his gaze from the mask. Even the fearful part of his eyes that I'm seeing looks really scary; it's all black like that of people in horror movies. I'm never a fan of horror movies, but here I am, having live action. Her pulse thunders in her ears, and it takes precious moments for the residual terror to subside in the tiniest sense of it. In the eerie stillness of the night, Marisol clutched at the sheets, her heart racing wildly owing to the scare of the nightmare that had taken a few nights off, only to return stronger than it would seem. The vivid imagery of the beast persists even behind her closed lids, haunting her waking moments as she grapples with the remnants of the surreal horror that had unfolded in her dreams.

Her mouth was stretched wide in a horrifying shriek. A wave of pure hatred rolled off her, so cold it burned the air. The chat stirred to life again. [Here we go! She won't even have time to react!] [I can already picture her getting torn to shreds...] But I didn't scream. I didn't run. Of course, my heart condition chose that exact moment to flare up. The pain was so bad I could barely stand.

"The game difficulty has been upgraded. Only high-level ghosts may remain in Happy Home. Mid-level ghosts must evacuate the residential complex immediately." The fatal mechanical voice echoed throughout the entire building. "What?!" Nicole couldn't help but scream. Granny Rosa was the only high-level ghost they could currently access. Without her as a messenger, they would all die here without question. My father and brother's expressions flickered with panic as they paced back and forth, unable to find a way out.
