BAB 88 — CHATRINE WILL PROVE IT The late afternoon sunlight poured through the tall windows of the Loghan estate. On the second floor stood a spacious room behind double ivory doors. Ever since the old days, the room had been used as a children’s playroom. The moment the doors opened, the scent of plastic toys blended softly with the fragrance of expensive wool carpets. She was watching every move, every twitch, analyzing me like I was still a threat to her daughter’s peace. “I got some of your favorite snacks,” I said, reaching into a basket on the table. “Cookies, juice boxes, strawberry-flavored popcorn and there’s a playroom upstairs.
