Evelyn stepped over scattered belongings near the edge of the motel lot while Rowan crouched briefly beside an abandoned SUV. “Tank’s empty,” he muttered. Of course it was. Fuel had already become survival. The electronic tone rang softly through Evelyn’s skull.

The scent of freshly prepared goat meat soup spread throughout the area while she carefully stirred the large pot beneath the moonlit sky. The delicious fragrance was impossible to ignore. One survivor who had just finished bathing emerged from his assigned villa wearing clean clothes. The moment the aroma reached his nose, he froze. "W-Wait..." he stammered. "Is that goat meat, or am I hallucinating?" Another survivor who had just arrived immediately sniffed the air. "Damn..." he muttered. "I've been dreaming about meat almost every night since the apocalypse started. Don't tell me I'm imagining things again." His stomach growled loudly.

My eyes widened and I nearly fell off the bed, fearful bumps rising all over my body. ​What in the world? Does this thing want to get me killed? ​Forget the penalty for a second. Just getting close to that madman was enough to get me killed before the timer even ran out! ​There is literally no one in this city who does not know Lucien Giovanni. Even now, while the world is still normal, his name is spoken in terrified whispers. And after the apocalypse began, he became even more notorious. He didn't just survive the end of the world; he thrived in it.

“Earthquakes. Floods. Collapses. I went into the broken buildings.” He says it without emphasis, which is how Maya has learned to recognize the things that cost him most. “Everyone runs out of a building when it comes down. Somebody has to be built to run in.” Maya says nothing. “Fifteen years going in after people.” His mouth shifts. “Then the world ends, and the apocalypse mostly removes the people part.” He looks again at the mark. “Now I clear rooms with nobody left inside and label them for a team that isn’t coming.” A small shrug. “Some habits are load-bearing. Pull them out, and I’m not entirely sure what’s keeping the rest of the wall standing.”

However, their relief was short-lived when they realized all the food in the mansion had vanished. A smirk played on my lips as I thought, 'I wonder how you like this little surprise?' The haunts rampaged unchecked, slaughtering humans at will during the apocalypse. Even though I was in the desolate suburbs, perhaps because I had once conducted my own funeral, I could acutely sense the shift in the apocalyptic air. A dense malice swirled around, sending shivers down my spine. I could not just stand by and watch my fellow humans being massacred while I hid away, basking in solitude.

“You might have survived this, but more is yet to come. Be brave if you can’t, come back and give it what it wants. He then disappeared right before my eyes. Another warning I couldn’t understand, it was always like that with him. I was done. I didn’t care anymore. I continued my way. after what felt like forever, just as dawn broke through. A small village appeared up ahead. Blind hope, a sense of security flooded my body. My steps felt lighter and I pushed forward. I was almost there, just a little longer. That was also why our security was the best in the whole city. I only found out in my last life that, after the world was hit by the deadly heatwave, a lot of desperate people showed up. In the apocalypse, humanity meant little. Everyone answered only to themselves. But our community was the only one that never got attacked by any looters, all thanks to the top-notch security forces here. It stayed safe until the scientists finally managed to build weather bombs strong enough to fight off the deadly heat, and the heatwave finally ended. Everyone in our community survived.

Apocalypse My mind barely registered all the sirens out there, ambulances, firetrucks and arrays of police cars. I was still basking in the aftermath of the chaos and despair. People were still screaming and crying. My smile widened at their suffering. Those fools Finn and Xalvy thought they were going to stop me. I clenched my hands at the mere thought of their names. They are in for a rude awakening. I’m not that defenceless and pathetic woman from so many years ago. Subconsciously, I bared my teeth at the thought of the past.

Its main villain was Hades, who under the series, was referred to as many names ranging from Death, the great death, the destroyer, Darkness, and the Ruler of the Underworld.
