As soon as she stirred Drake turn it off, she was convinced he didn’t want her to hear it. He flipped on the reading lamp, rolled over and moved the hair from her face.

“They will do it, Lilith. We’ve made it so and it will not be derailed. We’ve been far too complacent in this world for far too long. Now We, the Creator of All intervene. A light frown on my face would make him panic. It felt so surreal that I could barely believe it, yet the truth sat there on my screen, cruelly crushing everything I once believed.

He had dark curls, green eyes, and a calm smile that carried no pity. “Miss Vale?” I looked at him. “I’m Adrian Bellini. My family funds part of Professor Shaw’s closed project. She asked me to make sure you got back safely.” I remembered Professor Shaw mentioning the Bellini family once during a project meeting, but I had never met him before. “Hello, Mr. Bellini,” I said. Behind me, Dante did not follow. This time, I did not look back. The car door opened. Beyond the city, the institute waited: the lab, the project, the life I had once thought I would never live long enough to claim.

She brought out a note book, “I need to get everything under my control" She jotted down, when the apocalypse came, the date zombie appeared, the first building she that collapsed the safe house, the location where supplies her hidden, the place she went to get the crystal. She looked at the paper, a smile escape her lips.
