His dark hair was short, slightly tousled, and there was a tattoo of a snarling beast stretching across his neck. His arms were covered in ink, elaborate designs weaving between jagged scars, a tapestry of violence and pain. His hands—large, calloused, with knuckles split open as if he had been in a fight just hours ago—rested on the table, the fingers curled slightly as though they were used to breaking bones. But it was his eyes that sent a chill down Edwards’ spine. Dark. Cold. Lifeless. This was not a man. This was a predator. And Edwards had just walked into his den.

Quick and sharp, enough to make me freeze in my spot. Watching me, waiting for me, like how a predator observes its prey. Bright red eyes. And it’s emerging out of the alley, inching closer to me.

Whatever is in there, is capable of doing much more damage than anything that this man’s knife can do. The growl comes again, but this time, it is closer and louder. This is the sound of an apex predator instilling fear in its prey, freezing the prey in its tracks while simultaneously triggering the fight-or-flight response. But make no mistake, there is no fighting this predator. The prey can only run and hope to survive. And we, right now, are that prey. And that is when I see it. A gasp escapes me as the sight steals the breath from my lungs.

"The toxin will work within 24 hours, with no antidote. Want the delay agent? Then, get on your knees and start begging me!" Spettro lunged forward and grabbed him by the throat. "Where's the antidote?" "There's no antidote, only the delay agent. It's in my apartment," the technician said, wheezing. "But you won't make it in time." I calmly raised my hand and studied the red dot. "What toxin?" "A new type of neurotoxin. It starts from blurry vision, then loss of muscle control, and finally, respiratory failure." The technician coughed up blood but continued, "You won't live to see tomorrow's moon. The Donna's era is over."

, his thumb lightly caressed her cheek, “You can’t feel anything, the pain is lessened" “Does it remain that way?”. “No", he answered, “It doesn’t, only very few vampires can achieve that wholeness. It happens when they find their mates. Suddenly you feel the pain for two. You have a purpose, something to look forward to every day. Something to protect and to fight for, for as long as you live...”. She nodded in understanding. “There is also that predatory instinct that we can’t overcome", he continued, “The need to wield power, ultimate power, to exert dominance at all times...”.

I waited, patiently like I had all afternoon to spare until those lovely glassy eyes swept back to snag mine, "Hold it, boldly don't look away." Her fingers shook uncontrollably next to her milkshake. Her tongue peeked out to moisten her lower lips. "When that punk looks your way tonight you're going to feel exactly how you're feeling right now. Like a prey. A fawn spotted by a fox. Every instinct will tell you to look away. Your wolf will purr and cower." I squinted my gaze and made my voice drop, "You won't. You'll look him dead in the eyes, like you could devour him alive. You're the predator, not him. Not any man."

The set of glowing, deep crimson eyes ran beside me in the forest. The eyes weren’t human; they were animalistic with a predatory edge. I felt as if they could see right into the deepest parts of me. I wasn’t afraid though; somehow, I knew whatever held those eyes was not there to harm me. But just like every time I had this dream, as I ran closer to the predator beside me, dodging trees and jumping over rocks, right as I was about to see who or what held those eyes, I woke up.

“If it's just the human eye that needs light to look too closely, it's the most sophisticated organ in nature. Why isn't it perfect in terms of function?” I found my eyes as if she was strangling the general, can not help but move to his eyes. “Why not combine the wide-angle view of an eagle with the night vision of a cat?”

Probably nowhere for her to bathe out here. It took many decades to be able to get my lycan eyes to work as I needed. To be able to see at night and focus. Lycans use their hearing and their nose for most things, their vision isn’t actually all that important. But now that I too have a wolf, my night vision is damn near perfect. I can see just as good as the daytime, if not better when I’m on two legs.

Searching for something; something I needed badly. The colors around me had never been as bright as they were right now. It was beautiful, almost like a photograph that had been airbrushed to perfection. The colors were so vibrant that they shimmered on the ground. Suddenly, to my right, movement caught my eye, and I zeroed in on it. At first, it was just a blob of weird reds and oranges until I realized I was seeing the heat that it radiated. As I grew closer, I was able to finally make out what was bouncing in and out of the tree line. It was a doe-like creature with two sets of ears, large ones set high on its head and a smaller set that looked like cat ears perched set in front. The top
