She wasn't sure if she was ready to risk her heart again, especially not with someone she barely knew. As she finally found the "Pride and Prejudice" she was searching for, nestled amongst a collection of dusty tomes, a wave of relief washed over her. It was a beautiful edition, the leather cover worn but supple, the pages yellowed with age. It was a treasure, a piece of literary history that she would cherish.

She continuously shifts it around, nervous as Max's gaze is now on her. "Max, have you ever read the book?" Jessica glances at him momentarily, scrutinizing his visage. "Of course he hasn't. He—" Max cuts Maryanne off abruptly, "Actually, I have. I find Lizzie's prejudice against Darcy interesting. She treats him harshly because of his wealth and seemingly obvious pride, but she does not realize that he is not as spoiled and rude as he may first appear. It's a lesson we can all use in our lives," he said with a pointed glance towards Maryanne."

’ All these questions were flying around my head, when suddenly the loud howl was heard again sending shivers down my spine as this sounded different like an outside communication. Whilst I waited to see if there was any further howling, I glanced at the alarm clock, seeing that it said 3am I sighed inwardly as I know that I wouldn’t be able to sleep now due to all the unanswered questions going on in my head. Getting up from the window seat, I headed to my bookshelf to pick up my favourite book, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin, I switched on my lamp as I went past and got comfortable on the sofa to read until I had to get up ready for breakfast in a few hours as I knew I wouldn’t be able

Rhode let's out a small sigh accompanied by a smile and sits down on the floor of the bathroom, his back against the tub. "What are we reading?" He asks once he gets settled into his spot and unlocks my e-reader. I lean over slightly and place a small kiss on his cheek. "Pride and Prejudice, from the beginning please kind sir" I request with a small grin. He smiles to himself and scrolls down the titles before clicking on one and clearing his throat.

I realised he had been reading it before I arrived when my eyes landed on the book he had dropped on the floor earlier. Wait—was he reading it in the dark? I shook off the thought. That was not what mattered right now. What mattered was that he was wrong. I turned sharply, lips parting, already armed with my counterargument. "That’s not the point at all." I shot back. "The novel isn’t about vanity—it’s about growth. Elizabeth wasn’t just ‘stubborn’; she was learning to break free from societal expectations. And Darcy? He was not lonely because of pride; he was conditioned to believe vulnerability was weakness."

He raised his eyebrows and sat down. " Pride and prejudice. Chapter 31. Go and look for it . " Wow ,i was amazed! I thought he was serious when he said he didn't knew anything about this book. I swallowed my spittle and ,put on a disposable glove, then took a cotton pad. I shook my head for him to remove his tee shirt. "Well..uhhmm..no..i've never done this before you know..i'm a bit prude..No girl has ever seen my body.."

She reached over the stacks with a scraggy hand and picked up a plain-covered book, handing it to Adea. Adea flipped it over to look at the spine, which showed the title, Pride and Prejudice. “Oh, no thank you,” Adea said with a kind smile as she handed the book back. “I don’t do much reading. My sister on the other hand-” She made a gesture toward Lyda, who was still flipping through the pages of one of the thickest books Adea had ever seen. “Ah!” the old woman exclaimed. “Fascinated by religious texts, my dear?”

I ordered, then headed back to the bed. “You don’t have a preference?” she asked, sniffling back. “No,” I curtly replied. She walked over to the bookshelves, looking around, but kept glancing at me. I checked the time, and I had only two fucking hours before I needed to be up again. I’m going to be fucking selfish for once. She picked up a book, then walked back to her cushion and sat down. In her hands, holding Pride and Prejudice. I almost roll my eyes when she opens the first page. I’m drawn to what she’s reading.
