Haldane put his suitcase on the far side passenger seat in the back, and leaned wearily against the upholstery.
‘Charles V Hotel, please.'
The taxi driver gave him a look of slight surprise, met the quizzical amber gaze in the rear-view mirror, and shrugged. The Charles V was a pleasant-enough three-star hotel on The Strip, Honolulu’s most dense commercial area, but it was not, by any means, one of the ‘top 5 hotels, such as the famous Pink Palace, otherwise known as the Royal Hawaiian, where the rich and famous usually congregated.
