Her expression was still serious as she now took both of my hands in hers. "Listen, Eves. I think it's time you moved on. You can't hold on to some promise you made when you were eight years old. You deserve your chance at happiness and if Adrian Stone is the one to bring that in your life, you need to accept it. I'm not telling you to date him right now. But he wants to be your friend, right?" I nodded and she continued. "So take the chance. You should try and let other people in, too. You can't be alone forever holding onto some stupid promise. Just give him a chance and let him be a friend at least. I have a feeling this friendship is gonna do good for you."

Like a warning. Or a promise.

I said, handing it to her. She smiled even as her eyes welled up and she reached for it. I hoped the fact that I wasn't down on a knee was heads-up enough before she got too ahead of herself about what it might be. She opened the box and her hand was back over her mouth. "I know it's not much, Peanut," I said with a wince. "But it's just a promise ring. A promise that someday I'll have so much more to offer you."

Looking at another sandwich box in front of her, Anna looked at Brandon in surprise. ‘Is he, is he pitying me?’ Anna felt annoyed. She thought Brandon’s way of speaking was problematic. “What is this?” Anna looked at Brandon, then she nodded toward the small box of cookies on the table. “or you. Eat it.” Brandon waved his hand. Seeing Anna hesitate to take the cake box, he frowned. “What’s wrong? Can’t friend give each other gifts? Normally Vivia gives you spaghetti then you eat it, but I give it to you and you don’t accept it.”

“You not baby. It’s okay. I understand with the way I was acting, how you couldn’t think otherwise. It’s okay. I do however have one more thing for you.” “What’s that?” He reaches in the basket and pulls out a small little box and when I put my hand to my lips, he gets a little smirk on his lips too. “Don’t worry baby, it’s nothing to serious yet. It’s just a promise ring, it’s a symbol of a promise to make you my wife one day. I love you Chelsea, what do you say? You promise to be my wife one day?” “Yes Jeremy! Yes, I promise, marry you one day and I promise to love you always.”

I raised my hand, stopping Anjali from scolding her. "Deal. " I said as she gave me her pinky finger, I raised my brow in confusion. She asked, "Promise?" Oh my goodness! I am gonna melt right away, "Promise, " I let out, laughing. "So can we go now?" She questions excitedly. But before I could reply, Anjali interrupts, "Not now, baby, he's here to talk about something important to Mama, " She explains. She flashes a sad look, "Don't worry, angel, I always keep my promise, " I stated, her face soon lifts in a grin.

-Tomorrow my boy fights and I want you to go see him and tell me what you think- he says as I approach him once I'm off the treadmill. -And why do I have to go, I mean, my opinion is no big deal- I say with a shrug. - You have the blood of a Walker in your veins and you know a lot about boxing, since you were a little girl- he answers confidently. -All right, then send me the address and the time of the fight so I don't forget, what's his name- I ask. -The devil Cambell - he answers smiling. -Okay, as you say- I make a gesture of indifference.
