The sun dipped lower, gold streaking across the waves. Then I saw it, a pier stretching out into the sea, its tall pillars rising from the water like guardians. Two men sat at the edge, fishing lines dangling lazily. “Help!” My voice cracked, raw and weak. I coughed hard, spitting salt, trying again. “Help me!” The dolphins surged ahead, whistling and chattering loudly, their bodies breaking the surface in a chorus of splashes. The fishermen froze, staring. One dropped his rod, scrambling to his feet.

Their snouts bobbed in and out of the water, offering cheerful snorts as they floated by like little pink buoys. One particularly adventurous piglet nudged my leg, a cheeky look in its eye as if inviting me to join its aquatic dance. With gentle, rhythmic movements, I could see dolphins playing further out in the ocean, casting an ethereal glow. Sebastian and I watched mesmerized as they flowed, the water alive with shimmering, swirling lights. "It’s like a scene from a fairy tale," I whispered, as one of the larger, luminescent fish passed by, winking with scales that caught every sliver of moonbeam.

I raised my gaze from the water to see a pod of dolphins, at least four or five of them, leaping through the water. “Dolphins!” I squeaked with excitement, jumping up and down with glee. Which meant I promptly fell face first into the water. “You okay?” Bastian asked, saving my paddle for me as I climbed back onto my board. “Dolphins!” I squealed again, grinning with sheer delight. Bastian laughed at my childlike enthusiasm as the pod swam closer. I wished I could touch them, but they changed direction and went off in search of food in deeper water.

Reading her like an open book, Zivon added, “Speaking of which, I have a surprise for you…” Before Xavia could even reply, he had already taken a remote control out of his pocket… and with a click of a button, the ceiling and walls surrounding the room began sliding down… revealing the breath-taking sight of several colorful corals and fishes! In fact, there were dolphins as well! Were they under the sea?! “…H-how-” Holding her hands, Zivon interrupted, “Don’t worry about it. So long as you like it, I can safely say that all this is worth it… Don’t forget, I know you best…”

I didn’t realize I was already by the pond and I almost fell in. “That was close.” I muttered to myself. I took a step back and noticed something in the pond. What is that? I knelt down beside it and took a closer look. Is that a pufferfish? I decided to drop a rock next to it to see if it’ll puff up. Much to my surprise, it did.

I sighed then looked at Orlene but she just showed me a face of let-us-go. I sighed again, I’ll still be alive after this, right? I looked at the dolphins who are now looking at us. I nodded, “Okay.” I said. Orlene was the first to ride the dolphin. She didn’t seem scared, maybe I’m just overreacting? I went near to my chosen dolphin. Ok, here goes nothing! “Woohoo!” I screamed at the top of my lungs. I didn’t know that it will be fun! The cold air that swiftly runs through my body whenever the dolphin gets faster.

Miles shouted, his voice full of awe as he pointed excitedly toward the horizon. I followed his finger and, sure enough, a sleek, silver-gray dolphin leapt from the water, its fins catching the sunlight. I couldn’t help but smile at the sheer wonder in Miles’ eyes. It was moments like these that made everything else seem so distant, so unimportant. It was just us, the sea, and the joy of being alive.
