look down to an art. I buttoned the last few buttons of my vintage shirt, short-sleeved, yellow, with a loud floral print that somehow didn’t feel loud when it was on me. I wore my baggy black pants, and white sneakers. Around my neck was a silver chain, with rings that clicked gently when I moved, and a heavy cuff that hugged my wrist like it was made for me. She walked past me, dragging a finger across my lower back. “That shirt’s trouble,” she said.

“What is it, Piccolo?” She held up a blue shirt with white skulls all over it. I looked it over, and it was the same as one of the ones she’d picked out a minute ago. This one, of course, was a guy’s shirt. I took it from her and held it while she looked through some more clothes. She picked out a few more shirts and then headed to the changing room.

His brown eyes widened even more. “Can you just be a handler? There are a lot of clothes!” He became amazed but I just laughed at him. I opened a drawer containing my casual shirts. "Just choose there!" I said and he immediately chose a shirt. Most of my shirts are black. It was only a matter of time before he picked a shirt. It was a black shirt from Puma with orange lining on the neck. "This?!" he showed me the shirt.

My fists strike again; sweat flies, and I pummel the bag until my hands go numb. I'm completely soaked as I make my way to The Slam's gym showers. I pull my favorite t-shirt over my head and toss it on a bench. It's the one I wore every day, pre-game in college. Ruck me, maul me, make me scrum, is emblazoned on the front and it's my lucky shirt that hasn't seen much luck lately, at least not the lady kind.

Others are pastel colors—light blue, pale pink. On quite a few, the placket and underside of the collar are contrasting colors, clearly a style he favors. Another rack contains more casual dress shirts—mostly dark colors: purple, black, and navy-blue, some of them patterned: paisley, checked, or with flowers.

I paired it with my best pair of dark jeans. I looked in the mirror. I looked cool and rebellious, right? Jax was all about breaking rules. This fit.

Dawn shook her head. “Let’s start with the good news.” “We have actual clothes. I found two of your shorts in here. They probably got mixed in with mine,” Maxwell said. “But the only shirts we have are these.” He pulled out one extra-large T-shirt with a print that read: [I Put the ‘Max’ in Maximum Pleasure] “And this is yours,” Maxwell said, showing a small-sized shirt that read: [I Survived the Max Attack!]

If not for the massive coffee stain on the front of his shirt, he’d look like he just stepped out of the pages of a fashion magazine.

Looking at the shirt I was wearing, he smiled and pulled out a Five Finger Death Punch concert shirt. “Alright, let’s go get some food.”
