POWERLESS
The doctor—someone—works quietly beneath the sheets, hidden from my sight.
Panic swirls in my throat, thick and heavy. I try to speak, to scream, but my body feels frozen. Like sleep paralysis wrapping itself around my limbs, keeping me in place.
“You’ll be fine, baby. I got you. Just… hold still.”
The rest of his words fade into a muffled hum as a sharp, zinging noise pierces my eardrums.
