The White Wolf
My father, still in wolf form, was breathing heavily as blood pooled out of his wound.
Another wolf came through the door, poised to attack. He was momentarily stunned, looking over the dead bodies in the entryway. He howled fiercely, setting his eyes on me. He leaped in the air but was met by an invisible force that smacked him back to the floor. Ghost’s jaws clamped on the wolf’s neck and tore out its throat. I stayed still, guarding my father as the dead bodies piled up around us.
As if signaling the arrival of a cavalry, menacing howls invaded the vast yard, jumping on any unmatched wolf. The rest of my father’s men were here.
