The only difference was that they had almost opposite aesthetics. Aubrey was the pretty, cute lady you had no idea could claw your eyes out. She represented yellow, pink and all things girly, and always had a smile on. Hazel, on the other hand, had a dark aesthetic. Wore dark colours, especially red. Always had red lipstick on. Seductive but sweet, to only the people she cared about. She was also girly, but the other kind. And she would absolutely claw your eyes out. But that was the only difference in them. Their aesthetic. They loved the same things.

I took the book from her hand. It was light brown with a hint of a purple undertone. It was a little darker than I wanted, but I think it would look great with a little white mixed in. I took the book to the counter, where the paint was mixed, and laid the booklet on the counter. “What can I do for you?” The man behind the counter asked. “I like this color, but I think it is too dark. Can you do this color but add a little white to it?” I pointed at the color in the book.

It was from an old series that had been popular two years back. “I spotted this blind box while passing a shop. Weren’t you into this kind of thing?” Ben’s tone was offhand. I stared at the plushie. He remembered it wrong. Mikayla was the one with a thing for blind boxes. Two years ago, Mikayla bought an entire case of blind boxes, desperate to get the hidden edition.
