I pressed up on my toes, arching into him, tasting coffee and salt and the sharp edge of relief that still lived in both of us. Just then a throat cleared sharply from the doorway causing us to break apart, as our chests heaved. Kelly stood framed in the open French doors, one hand raised like a man caught stealing. His cheeks carried the faintest flush under the moonlight. “Sorry,” he said quickly. “I didn’t mean to walk in on… that.” Morris kept one arm looped around my waist. “What’s wrong, Kelly?” Kelly shifted his feet. “I hate to break the moment. But you both need to come downstairs.”

But still, the mess we had made had been disgraceful. I was sitting on my bed after my shower, dressed in a pair of yoga pants and an oversized hoodie. I was stressed out, sitting there worrying about what was going to happen next. Was Alpha Doyle still angry over the mess we had made of his home? Were there going to be punishments handed out to the three of us for what we had done? I had decided the safest bet was for me to stay locked in my room. It prolonged my ability to avoid the angry Alpha and his Beta, along with the furious cleaning staff.

Now!” The order jolted everyone into action. Doors slammed shut along the corridor, bolts clattering into place. Inside Althea’s chamber, Mila and Amy trembled, their faces pale with fear. “This is terrible,’ Mila whispered, clutching her hands to her chest as she gazed out of the window at the sky. I returned to my thesis, but not before adding, "Or you could wait till he gets hives once he wears the pajamas. It'll be all too obvious then." Kelly didn't respond but stormed out of the room, slamming the door shut behind her. … After my tutoring session in the afternoon, I headed straight for the library, where I camped out till it closed, at which point I went off to set up my crepe stall.

"Jenna, are you alright?" Kelly was the first to reach her. She wasn't one to attract attention in any way therefore, it was a surprise for everyone, except those who didn't know her closely because they weren't from the same department. Max smiled deliciously. The genius Queen was embarrassing herself in front of both the old and new CEO. She wasn't special after all. Since Jenna had proved hard to get, his attraction towards her had turned to loathe.

Getting to where I had dropped my things I saw Kelly waiting for me there "Hey what's up? ] I can feel the tension on the caller's tone. "Okay. Stay still. I'm coming there." I quickly cut the line. Fuck, what's happening to her this time? I went straight to Kelly's house. The maid told me that she locked herself inside her room without even eating since yesterday and they were afraid to open her room without her permission. As I got inside, the other maid pointed me where her room is. "Kelly, open the door. It's Axis." I started knocking on her door yet she's not responding. "Kelly, open this door." Still, she's not responding.

It was Kelvin, that annoying guy who had been bothering me. I couldn't help but wonder what he was doing here. He seemed equally shocked to see me, but at that moment, I didn't care about his presence—I just wanted to find a way out of this trap. As I noticed the door slowly closing again, panic surged through me, and I quickly sprang into action. I stood up and rushed towards the door, trying to prevent it from shutting completely. Unfortunately, my efforts were in vain; the door closed itself, leaving Kelvin and me trapped in this room, likely until death.

“Hey, Kiley. I’m going to pick you up. Keep those eyes closed for me for just a bit longer, baby.” Her eyes squint harder. She’s so still and it’s from knowing nothing but pain in her short life. That’s about to change. I lift her and back out of the closet. She’s wet against my arms, but I know Celina won’t mind. I turn and hand her over. “Keep your eyes closed, Kiley,” I remind her again.

Inside was a letter with a number written on it. ’Timer starts now, Kelly. Run for your life. 47 days to go.’ Kelly immediately panicked at those words, dropping the letter onto the table. She hugged herself, terrified, and looked around—no one else was there but her. She stood up to go to her room but stopped when she remembered the letter and the doll. If her family saw them, they would worry. So, reluctantly, she took them and brought them to her room. Once inside, she thought of a place to hide them. Her eyes landed under her bed—there was a secret compartment there. She quickly placed them inside. Afterward, she collapsed onto her bed, breathing heavily, still trembling from fear.
