When I enter, I quietly close the door behind me and fish for the lock in the darkness, my hands shaking so much I almost give up and cry. "I have never seen you like this before," Ryder said, getting on my nerves. I had no reason to be seething with anger or directing said anger at my brother. I just needed to calm myself. The table under my hand caved in. I looked at the dent at the corner of the table and realized how tightly I was holding it.

Amelia cried out in pain, her eyes briefly losing all light. Panic set in as she screamed, "Samuel! Samuel, what's happening?! I can't see anything, I'm blind…" Without hesitation, Samuel dove into the lake and saved my mother. He tried to revive her with all he could do, but she showed no signs of life.
