He wasn't aquatinted with fashion and he didn't understand how things worked. He just watched as slender ladies swayed majestically through the columns and other people were taking pictures. He wondered if Ketra's turn was already done and hoped she was still backstage. A moment of silence came in as reporters turned their cameras towards the backstage exit as a tall slender figure appeared in black with lights turned down to dim. Adrian's POV My head buzzed. I looked up sharply at Marissa Cole, who had been waiting outside the studio for me to get off work. No wonder the student's voice had sounded familiar. I had heard it on her phone before. The producer shot to his feet in panic and urged me through my earpiece to keep talking. Marissa's eyes darkened. Holding her phone, she turned and walked away. I took a deep breath and forced out a smile. I held myself together and finished the closing remarks, ending right at the five-minute mark.

I screamed again, my voice raw with desperation. The storm seemed to respond to my cries, the rain suddenly stopping as if an unseen hand had flipped a switch. The silence was deafening, broken only by the soft patter of raindrops falling from the eaves. In the eerie calm, I saw hotel workers and other guests emerging cautiously, drawn by the urgency of my pleas.

the Texan said with a smirk. “Over-glorified…” Zephyra said, with indignation. “I’ll show you, cowboy!” The shifter didn’t look impressed, and that only pissed her off more. The wind picked up around them as she called out to the rainwater in the parking lot. Zephyra heated and condensed the rain into a cloud. The shifter’s eyes widened at the small but growing cloud. It hovered over him. With a snap of her fingers, the cloud broke and rained over the Texan.

There is something relaxing about watching the rain fall. Watching each drop hit the glass of my window and slowly slide over it, joining with other drops and creating transparent shapes. I woke up to the sound of loud thunder; I wasn't surprised by the rain; it was spring after all. I didn't know how much time had passed since I sat by the window. I didn't feel like leaving my room, so I just stayed with a blanket around me, sitting there, admiring the view of the heavy rain.

“Every time it rains, I’m always reminded of the lab.” Darius walked closer slowly. “What do they do when it rains?” “They say the sound of the rain is really nice.” Darius frowned. “What’s so special about the sound of rain?” Serafina gazed up at the sky thoughtfully. “The sound of rain really helps them, it keeps our screams from being heard by other immortal beings.” The room suddenly fell into complete silence. Darius quietly felt his chest tighten. He didn’t say a word after Serafina said that, because no words were enough to make either of them feel much calmer now.
