Snapping my neck to the side to a satisfying crack, I make my way to the main office. Alex is already by the coffee machine brewing a cup. "You want a cup too?" She asks and I give her a light nod. "I'd love that." Huh....am so tired. "Hey Pari...did you see the pictures?" Alex says catching my attention. "Which pictures?" "It's the current rumor online." She ticks, staring at me like an alien from another world. "A big fan caught a picture of Xavier with his secret lover." Secret lover? Holy chocolate...what.

I gasped at my reflection when I looked at the mirror by the sink. There was a mark on my collarbone like a tattoo. It was the shape of a wolf with a crescent moon. Below it were the letters K and X, with a heart in the middle. It was lovely. I touched it and felt myself shudder. He placed me on the bathtub and joined me. While he was putting conditioner on my hair, I turned to him. "Xanthe loves you, Killy..." I whispered. He looked so happy and proud, he grabbed my head and smashed our lips together.

He was talking with the others now and I couldn't help but wonder what they were hiding. The woman opposite released a sigh before speaking. "You are so lean you could use a better feeding schedule." I frowned in confusion but Casey perked up beside me. "Raphael, the head guard, is friends with Kelly." He pointed at the woman opposite. "He orders just enough for us to eat to our satisfaction. If you are interested, we could bring you some every day. Perhaps early in the evening?" Casey shoved a paper into my hand and I couldn't help but smile. The man leaned over to bread it and nodded with a smile at her approval written in a few words.

She sighed and massaged her forehead with her fingers tiredly and said "It's better for you to not know A. I'm glad that he's okay and that you weren't involved in what went down with him so just leave it at that okay. It's for your own good." I was still curious but Casey looked tired so let it go. I was back again in my room tending to Xander while Casey was sorting something in her laptop with regards to work when he suddenly groaned and started moving. "easy there!" I said while helping him up. He slowly blinked his eyes and saw me there and I could say he was surprised when he looked at me with round eyes "what are you doing?" he demanded.

Gasps. He turned. And everything stopped. Raphael stepped into the court like a blade unsheathed. He wore nothing but sheer white shorts that clung to his hips, and a translucent shirt that barely veiled the bruises marring his pale skin. Bite marks. Hickeys. Streaks of flushed red where hands had once gripped too tight. And over his shoulders— Xavier’s coat. Still damp. Still soiled with the memory of what they’d done. Still scented with desire, ruin, and him.

And Brandon will find me. Ryan is waiting for us with the door to the limo open, and as I dart in, a flash goes off and Xavier curses. His hand flexes at his side like he’s restraining the urge to go after the photographer and punch him. Then, in a second, he smooths it over, slipping into control like he always does as he enters the limo. But I can't help but realize that my picture was just taken. I'm doomed, I think to myself as a tear runs down my face.

Then, I picked up my phone. I wanted to send Ruby a message. I wanted to tell her that I had found Casper. I had just unlocked my phone when the chat suddenly flooded in. [Oh my god! Ms. Xander is really carrying bricks!] [She has blisters on her hands… I checked the later parts of the story. She really is extremely rich. Can someone explain what is going on?]

These people were mostly outlanders, but there were a few familiar faces too. A middle-aged man stood up, made his way to Adrian, and said, “Hi. My name is Casey Wolfman, and I’m a sailor of this ship. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” Casey looked extremely humble and had a sincere smile on his face. Adrian smiled back and said, “I’m Theo Xander, and this is my girlfriend Sia Thompson.” “I see. Where are you from, Theo? I’m from Yelloton. What brings you to Luposia?” Casey asked smilingly.

Raphael howled desperately. "Uh, wouldn't it be less traumatic if your friend is treated here?" Sensing that he had her attention, Xavier barreled on, "We have a very talented pack doctor whose mate is a dragon healer," his eyes flew to Jaxon, "Beta Vasquez, have someone wake Neville and Titan, please. Tell them we'll be arriving momentarily."

My breath left me slowly. "Rafael Belmont, Alpha of the North Crescent Pack, has stepped back into the public eye after five years of complete silence. Upon his return six months ago, he founded the Belmont Companies, growing its stock by three hundred and sixty percent. He is set to take the position of Alpha Chairman this month and will launch a new company this week." The anchor's voice faded into background noise. I hadn't thought about Rafael Belmont in years. I'd tried very hard not to. And yet here he was, filling the screen like he'd never left, like five years was nothing, like I hadn't spent the better part of my teenage years completely undone by the thought of him.
