Chapter 1: Dysfunctional family. The darkness is nothing more than a test that God gives us, many times to overcome things and learn from it, but in the end we all carry that darkness in our hearts, we just have to decide whether to expel it or let it dwell within you. Charlotte is a girl who has been in the dark since she was born, her parents were shitty to her, she was beaten and mistreated unjustifiably simply because her parents wanted it that way, but to understand a little of this story we must return to the past.

whispered Louis, flapped his wings and rose into the air. Two black feathers flew in the air, separated from Louis' magnificent wings. They sailed onto the body of the sucked-out woman. The ravens that sat in the tree croaked and rose into the air, flew in swarm over the destroyed monastery, passed the desecrated cemetery and flew towards the horizon. Raven was groaning with his back arched, gripping his right thigh. "Raven! What’s wrong?" Gia rushed to the bed without thinking. "It hurts like hell!" Raven shouted, his eyes staring aimlessly. "Wait, wait... I can't see! Why is this room so dark?!" Such a large room shouldn’t only have a dim bedside lamp. *CLAP!* Raven clapped his hands once, and the lights turned on brightly. The room's switch could be activated by a clap. Gia quickly released her grip on Raven's thigh due to the sudden brightness, and her fingers began examining the right thigh.

My eyes fall shut, trying to keep the tears at bay. “I accepted the path of darkness for myself. I’m a vampire,” Lucas continues. “That’s what we are. That’s what’s inside of us. Darkness.” He slips one hand under me, and my heart swells in my chest. “I believed I could never be anything but dark. I let it consume me, and I told myself that’s how things were meant to be. For over a thousand years I clung onto that false truth…and then I met you.” A tear rolls down my cheek.

But they had gone to great lengths and gotten this far - they were resolved to see it all to the end. “We can always hunt Lucifer down and kill her,” said Kali, “if it turns out she betrayed us.” “I do not believe it will come to that,” said Miko. “But I agree.” ~ It was a couple of cycles later, just as night hit its peak, when the Ravens had to make their move. Most of the settlement was sleeping, or at least drunk in a watering hole somewhere. The streets were relatively barren, save for the few patrols all around, or the random stumbling drunkards singing into the starry sky.

“Murderer! Where’s my sister?!” A girl pushed through the crowd, her face streaked with tears and dust. She grabbed another stone, rage twisting her features. Before she could throw it, someone moved faster. A tall figure stepped between us, his arm coming up just in time to block the blow. The world seemed to still. I looked up, and there he was. Alaric. The Raven King himself. His eyes… deep, stormy gray, locked on mine. His jaw tightened as he turned to glare at the crowd, his presence alone enough to make grown men bow their heads.

"Move aside, or I will put a hole through your forehead before you can raise that barrel." "She won't be moving," another voice purred from the shadows behind Nella. A tall silhouette stepped into the light. Ravena. Her dark hair was pulled back, her eyes reflecting the flashlight beam with a strange, sickening purple tint that didn't belong to any normal wolf. The air around her seemed to warp, dark, smoky tendrils of magic curling around her boots and seeping into the water. "Marcus, fire!" Bellamy yelled.

“Bring the Black Coast shipment codes, the account access, and every fucking file you stole.” A sob caught painfully in my throat. What the hell were they talking about? “I swear I don’t know anything,” I whispered desperately. “I don’t even know who Ravens is.” One of the men barked out a laugh. “Damn. She really clueless.” “Not our fucking problem,” another muttered. The gun pressed harder into my skin and my breathing immediately turned shaky again. “You hear that, Ravens?” the man said into the phone. “Fourteen hours before we paint the floor with her brains.”

Zane said to her. I got to the river and taking off my shirt, I dived in. Enjoying the feel of the water on my skin, I looked up to the starry sky. Soon it will be a full moon and I would be bound by the darkness that came with it. I heard footsteps approaching and turned in its direction. Coming towards me was Raven. “Alpha,” her voice was like a soft seductive purr. “Leave,” I couldn’t let her know she had effects on me.

They wouldn't be able to hide for so long without making a mistake on their part. “Yeah…their eye color would change back to normal, which is always black, whenever they are triggered or angry”. Raven's eye color had always been gray, and when she was angered it turned more grayish. “You don’t think they have been the one attacking us all this while”. Gale said, his brows furrowed in thought. “No thier method of killing is quite crafty, they can kind of suck out the life of the person with their dark spells, without hurting them physically”.
