They had been waiting for him to awake when a nurse come to examine him only for her to declare to their utter disbelief that she was sorry they had lost their loved one. Her eyes misted over and she felt a tear slide down her. Then another followed from the other eye and another and another. They were tears of wrenching agony. A sob escaped from her throat, drawing her mother’s attention. The mother had seen the wounded look on Becky’s face and had tried without much success to console her. “Stop crying,” she had said. “I know how this is hurting but you can’t keep crying like this.”

I explained "You're going to make me cry," she mumbled jokingly but the hidden seriousness in her tone let me know the amusement in her voice was only present to cover the emotions she was feeling. "We just have one more," I replied laughing slightly before she could respond Aria came in view and Britt pulled away from me lifting her into her hold, placing a small kiss on her forehead. "You look pretty," Aria complimented making her mother smile.

My face flushed as I froze by the doorway. “Good morning, Lyra,” he said, his voice casual as he glanced up. “Good morning,” I managed, completely thrown off by his casual demeanor. I cleared my throat as I took a seat a few chairs away from him. I gripped the edge of the table, staring at him. “Raguel... what were those sounds last night? I heard screams. Low grunts. It sounded like you were in pain.” Raguel didn’t even look up from his food, his expression remaining unreadable. “It was nothing. Just pack stuff. Don’t concern yourself with it.”
