Raymond said in a low voice. He just shook his head when Bashie looked at him and did not comment again. When the appointed time came, all but three of their classmates were asleep. Raymond slowly pulled out his knife, while Bashie held out the scissors. As he cautiously went to the door to see if anyone was outside the library. He prompts Raymond and Bashie to carry out their plan.

The evening sky was turning orange when Raymond knocked on Tricia’s door. She had been sitting on the edge of the bed, trying to read the same page of a book for nearly twenty minutes without actually absorbing a word. “Come in,” she said. The door opened. Raymond stepped inside, carrying two cups of tea. “I figured you might want something warm,” he said. She smiled faintly. “Thank you.” He handed her one and sat in the chair across from the bed.
